Bump.

I haven't posted here because I haven't had much time for OKCupid this week. I'll do more on the weekend.

I have a question. For those of you who have used OKCupid, what does it mean when someone all of a sudden no longer shows up on the search matches even though their profile still exists?

Just to let you know, I've messaged someone new. This is the first time that I've messaged someone first and they've replied.

It means that they have put you on the ignore list.

So, the girl I had the nice conversation with last has decided to hide me. How wonderful.

Anyway, I hope that I can chat to this new person.

It's funny though that she was the first to message me, saying that she was interested. In any case, we didn't even discuss science. Oh well.

Which makes this all the more odd. Do you think I should send her a message to apologise for what ever I did? It may also be just because she found out that we live bit far away from each other. I was also looking for someone close by so that it would be easy to meet.

No! Don't ever apologize for something that you aren't aware what it is!

Use my way, the direct straightforward-as-bullet approach! Send her a message with something like "Why the hell are you blocking me?!" and you might get the real answer you're seeking for.

This is I always do when I have doubt about someone blocking me ....and it always works!

I used that approach with an active WP member once and I got the truth out of his/her mouth (hello WP member ;) you know yourself) , and then you realize you're better off without them ;).

Do you have a better idea? Or should I just leave it alone and message other people?

Confront her, corner her, ask her for an explanation.

Or just block her back and move on.

maybe she changed her settings so that her goal no longer meshes with yours? for example, if you are saying you want an LTR and she recently decided she wants friends only, she could change some kind of settings right? then when you search for women in your area that want an LTR, she would have come up before, but not anymore.

hard to say though. it's possible (like Boo basically said) that she decided you were not a good match, but it's also possible she decided she is looking for a different kind of relationship or something.

I had a girl disappear on me once, I assumed she'd just decided to bomb her account. I can't recall what I'd did that could make her want to block me. I've been much weirder with other people, and they seemed to like it.

I wouldn't assssume she's added you to an ignore list. I always assume the best.

I have a buddy on OKcupid, I might experiment with her and the ignore list to see what happens.
