bush tribes of the kalahari have lots of women in their 70s
That is quite astonishing for hunter-gatherer tribes. The world-wide average life expectancy for women is 69.5 years, but only due to the long lifespan in developed countries. I'd expect it to be lower than that for tribal people.
not really, they eat and behave like people were evolved to, so logically should live the best/healthiest lives for humans.
It's true that many Western people live on an unhealthy diet. But if you look at the life expectancy by country, it seems that we nonetheless live a lot longer than people in Third and Second World countries:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_co ... expectancy
Zimbabwe: 42.6 years, Switzerland: 84.2 years. Nigeria: 47.3, Japan: 86.1, and so on. Of course for the most part, this list compares sedentary agriculturalist people. Hunter-gatherers don't much factor into it. We know though that they face the same problem as their civilized (i.e., sedentary, agricultural and state-organized) countrypeople as far as water quality and sanitation goes.
The main reasons that life expectancy in developed countries has so drastically increased are sanitation and sewage systems, clean water through wastewater treatment facilities, access to fresh produce all year round, meat quality controls, and of course modern medicine. African tribal people typically lack all of this. I'm not sure that their more traditional diet can make up for this difference.
