OK...maybe you misunderstood me. What I meant was my ex-GF reasoned with her friends and her family concerning me. We had a great relationship, but I think people would have reacted the same had I been the one breaking us up.

She grew tired of her family badgering her to break up with me as much as I was tired of her friends picking on me.

If my friends told me to break up with my boyfriend who I love dearly and is clearly a decent guy, for something superficial, those friends wouldn´t be my friends anymore. Horrible family as well. It suprises me that Americans still think like this in 2013.

Ironically, had my mom and my sister found out, they would have told me to do the same because my-ex was white. Both don't seem to realize that I'm old enough to be in a relationship, though I have found a new GF already.

I can see their point. If that's what they want, then that's what they want. And, I agree: all of the available evidence seems to suggest that, on average, Black men are more masculine than White men. I really can't perceive any valid counter-arguments. I don't think that she necessarily meant to be insulting. A white woman certainly doesn't have to be trailer trash to be attracted to black men. She is talking about "swooning." I don't know anything about the Netherlands, but an upper class white woman might have reason to be more careful to control her urges to swoon publicly over there.

Might have something to do with the kind of people a lot of the men who happen to be black are. If black people in the Netherlands are disproportionately likely to be involved in crime or drugs or be illegal immigrants and live in ghetto areas, that might be a reason why she said that. If they are well integrated into the mainstream Dutch population, then it makes a bit less sense.

If black people are seen as dangerous, that might explain why most 'respectable' people wouldn't go near them. Yes, it is racist, but people might feel a need for their paranoia.
If they are not seen as dangerous and are considered not enormously different from anyone else, then it might suggest a problem with Dutch society.

Nope, that´s not at all what I am implying. First, there is a difference between usually and always. Second, there is a difference between swooning over a certain type of guy and finding yourself to be attracted to someone. You seem to have a problem with interpretative reading, just like you showed in your previous posts.

My cousin, who is black, is dating a white girl. Both of them went to grammar school. His girlfriend is sweet, well spoken, well behaved, cares for her surroundings, classy and intelligent. But then again, so is he.
My own (half) sister, white, has an adorable little boy with a black man. She as well went to university, is intelligent, cares for her surroudings, is wel spoken, etc. The same goes for her black husband.
So no, you don´t have to be a trailer trash kind of white woman to be attracted to black men.

I am attracted to black men, for sure, but swooning over black men like those girls in the video? Those girls are saying 'I love you black guys' rapping, and singing, and swag'. Plain ridiculous and extremely generalizaing. To be honest I find that far more offensive.
And yes, many white girls that swoon over black guys are the not very classy, not very educated, not very well spoken, quickly to get pregnant kind of white girls.

Unfortunately, here, black people are more likely to be involved in crime or drugs, although this also depends on the country of heritage.
I would say that generally the image of black people in the Netherlands is not extremely positive. There is an area in Amsterdam called 'de Bijlmer' where nearly only black people live. There is quite a lot of crime there, especially in the night time, and therefore it is associated with 'the ghetto' for many white people.

I go to university in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the Netherlands, but even there I hardly see black students, especially male black students. Often times I am the only "coloured" person during a workgroup.
Generally, the image of Arabs, especially Moroccans, is worst here in the Netherlands. They commit most crimes in proportion. But still, for some reason, I see more Arab people at university than black people. I don't know why this is.
