One thing they say is that American men really don't know what to do any more. If you open a door for a woman, you are yelled at. If you don't open a door for a woman, you are yelled at.

So, basically, no matter what you do, you get yelled at. You can't win, so you might as well leave them alone.

Do Western men treat women differently from the way they treat other human beings? Should they?

The solution to the door problem: open doors for everyone. If anyone complains, shut the door on their nose.

Guys, if you want a feminine woman, just get a ticket to Phnom Penh or Bangkok.

What complaints? Most of the complaints I've seen so far are against western women. If you want women to be your servants than by all means have it your way but don't expect every female to kiss the ground you walk on or act like they owe you something simply because you da man.

Let's face it, the west and the U.S. especially is still new to the equal opportunities that minorities fought so hard for. It seems that some men and even women take it for granted the labor and work women, blacks and other minorities and working classes went through just to get the same opportunities as the priveledged white men. Apparently some things never change as some people still hold onto their old beliefs and myths about human beings and where they stand socially and financially. The old myths of why a person should be treated less than another person.

As for western men, I find that they are just as diverse as women. One great and enduring factor about the west is at least we don't get persecuted or killed for the basic rights we take for granted such as freedom of speech and freedom to live. Even widows in some parts of the eastern world are not even allowed to work or marry again.

Anyway, it'd be nice to know what exactly feminine and masculine mean to you men. For some strange reason there are some guys who think women should look and act feminine. I get what feminity looks like but I sure as hell don't understand what acting feminine means except fullfilling a subserviant role which frankly is just another word for slavery if you mean it in the sense that you don't have to take any responsibility. Personally I really don't care if men think western women are awful simply because I could never really pretend to be something I'm not and I'd hate to have to survive off a man simply to live.

It just seems like most of the messages come off here mixed and ironic. Women are only attracted to wealth and status...which is bad, then it's women should stay at home and take of the house and the kids....which means the man would have to work, then it's women are rude but if a guy is rude to a lady it's ok because she likes em' bad. I've never seen so much confusion and stupidity in my life not even on a subforum.

We are both Western women, so I suppose we can be assumed to be interchangeable with each other. Just as Eastern women are being portrayed here as interchangeable with each other.

For the record, I didn't post in this thread prior to being misconstrued as MissConstrue (hehe) because I don't think there is some sweeping generalization that can be made about Western men, other than the obvious geographical one that they are in the West.

Except, uhh, not... I know a lot of muslims (NJ has the largest muslim percentage of total population of any US state), and they're quite normal... sure they have slightly different dress and dietary requirements than we're used to, but they're jerks and saints like any other group of human beings...
