Did she say actually anything else like she does not want to get involved with you etc ?
Otherwise she might be just testing you to see how you react to it. It's good to have something in common with your bf/gf however there are many couples who dont have much in common anyway. So dont just give up yet.

Yes, cause otherwise it may have just been a comment. If she did use it in a 'I'm not interested' context...I agree that it could be an excuse, unless she really believes that. I've just never known a girl that met a guy she reeaaally liked then realized they didn't have stuff in common and lost interest. If it was me, I would agree with her There would be a chance that she would take that as a way out and try to get out of talking, but I'd see how she reacted to you acting like you're as interested as you were before.
I'm not exactly sure, that's just an idea.
