why do girls think it's hot to act stupid?

This is my opinion:

Girls don't think it's 'hot' to act dumb. A lot of guys are threatened by intelligent girls and by making yourself appear to be ditzy/airheaded/dumb-ish, guys think they are smarter than you. Some guys this just gives them enough ego boost to ask your out or whatever, other guys see this as an opportunity to take advantage of you. Guys that are very intelligent/at least confident in their intelligence find this ditziness unattractive. I've had a guy end a relationship because he 'didn't want to be with a girl smarter than him' (That's unfortunate, because he wasn't that smart.) Of course he didn't say that to my face, someone told me. But of course there are plenty of guys that prefer my more bubbly, ditzy friends because they're just fun to be around.

As for the clothing...it's just a cycle. Sex is in the media a ton, clothes that don't cover much are the norm, and when your friends and everyone in popular culture are wearing it, it feels weird when you aren't. Guys: trust me, if you are a young adult girl and shop in stores that are somewhat with the times (not even exactly stylish and definitely not designer) it's hard to find stuff that isn't showing off some part of your body. When I try on clothes it feels like something is always hanging out...your butt crack, cleavage, midriff, showing a lot of leg, etc. It's hard to find modest clothes that look your age.

Because men think it turns them on. A stupid-looking girl might be easier to talk into bed?

I agree with the person who said "They're more fun to be around" because it's true. If men go out for a night on the town they want to chill and relax and have fun with people. Someone bubbly, laid back and flirty is the sort of person they want to talk to.

Its not the workplace, where intelligence matters. You will find men in the workplace would probably find a smart dressed woman in the work place who does her job well very attractive. The former would just be thought of as a joke there.

OP, I've never been somewhere with the type of scene you've described. Most of my time in bars has been in NYC, which has a huge bar scene. i rarely encountered slu*ty looking girls.

^^ This post saddens me in so many ways. It was one of the first posts (along with a couple of others on the first page) that made me, as a woman, feel unwelcome. But, I read on and as noted above, did encounter some sanity.

Who cares if a girl dresses like a whore. Beauty is so fleeting, to each her own. If a guy doesn't like that type of girl there are plenty of places to go meet different, more conservative types (church, universities, clubs, etc.). Bars aren't really where you go to meet "the one" anyway. News flash, people go there to GET LAID.

Girls, even "dumb" "slu*ty" ones, have feelings. Dehumanizing them because they follow a fashion we don't appreciate is much worse than dressing like a whore for an evening. Ever considered they could just be lonely?

I live in an area with a lot of 1st generation Persian Americans, and while I don't think they are representative of Persian girls as a whole (I know a lot of normal looking Persians), the ones around here tend to wear stilletos, tight pants, tons of makeup, and oversized sunglasses, and I've heard comments from a lot of men around here that they actually find it very unattractive.

The thing is, most of them *would* be pretty if they didn't dress like that.

oh but in a way they do actually represent the whole of society. bars are where the trendiest, most popular citizens of our society, the du jour, hang out and they represent what's hip and "in" so therefore they are the majority. let's face it- the majority of teenage to 20-something girls do dress like skanks, especially during social events. i'm just wondering why it's becoming so popular to look foolish. spandex tube dresses and short shorts are tasteless and serve no purpose other than to titalate men.
women can still effectively attract attention to themselves and express themselves at the same time. it just takes a little human intelligence.

I know a person who dresses like a complete trash whore (not to mention she'll do anything in pants) and yet has a very lucrative job. She's the worst kind of whore, then. Using it to get what she wants from men.

People with class just don't dress like whores. They sometimes want to come across sexy or cute, but don't look like trash.

Well it's certainly hotter than a woman who tries to act smart when she's not.

I think it's because women assume that all men want are beauty not brains. Intelligent women also seem more intimidating to a man. I've known intelligent women who insist on dressing skanky because they assume it attracts more men.

Short answer to OP - it drives guys wild. I can't tell you why. Not the dressing minimally, that much is obvious. The dumb part, guys do this as well - deliberately - because while women want intelligence, that sort of talk spewing from a guy's mouth when he's out to meet women is as bad as it is for women (ie. a night of spending way too much on drinks at an overpriced bar and going home alone unless they threw their standards to the wind). I think its an awareness people have that sexual attraction and intelligence mix like oil and water, that its a strictly hormone/gene/emotional thing of a nature that straight talk or intelligent conversation (without agenda) blows away almost instantly.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think most people like this much either - just that I get the impression that they realize there's nothing they can do about it. They can wish in one hand, do something else in the other, and see which fills up faster. Its not to say that you can't have intelligent conversation with women once your dating them and past the first few dates, just that during that initial chemistry period it's a known problem.

She never had class. She came from crushing poverty (guess it's true what they say about how you can take a trailer park trash out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the trailer park trash), somehow 'made something of herself', but still has the mentality of one who was so poor she needed to use sex to get anything worthwhile.

Plus she has serious daddy issues; he practically ignored her growing up.
