I was in only one brief relationship and that was 4 years ago. I've never had luck with the opposite sex and I get really sick of seeing this trend as well. I can't say however that I'm the "norm" of women so I really don't know how it works.

What's ironic is I always thought men had it easier when it came to relationships. They can be as old as 50 and date women of various ages and backgrounds. I've always thought men to be very picky when it comes to the female sex. If she isn't pretty, she has to mother-like and take care of both her man and children. My mom had to go through this crap while working 2 jobs to support us.

I think this is one of those things that only applies on a case-by-case basis.

It also depends on the motives of the person pursuing them (is he/she actually wanting a relationship, or just use her or take advantage of her), what kinds of standards she has (is she too picky, or just willing to take the first person who shows her any sort of attention).

The problem is that you're not seeing it from the perspective of a man with AS, as we often drop out of school early and often are overweight.

The other danger here - I've said it before and I'll say it again - because we're on an internet forum the loudest voices cast a halo effect on everyone else and thus the guys and girls here can look a bit same'ish on paper, even if we intellectually know better than to accept that it still goes that way by feel.

I would like to ask though to the women in this thread - for what you don't feel comfortable posting here, is the womens' issues forum at least serving your needs from that end?

Well, according to all scientific studies of Autism sex ratios , the males are much more , about 3:1 to 4:1 , and that includes severe Autism.

Now , for some reason, most females here claim that most autistic girls go 'unnoticed' or have been misdiagnosed with something else during their whole life (lol, yea right) and hence the difference in ratios but the real ratio is 50-50.

This might be possible for the people with the OzBurger's SuperAbility (beware the chicken) but it can't be possible for the severe classic Autism or the LFA.

I hardly believe that a girl with LFA will be unnoticed by her parents or misdiagnosed by doctors in US and Europe, classic autism's characteristics are well known. Despite that, the ratio of boys:girls with LFA is high , so the gender is surely genetically or environmentally related to the severe autism.

Yet, the wp sex stats shows that males and females are 50-50 http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt143.html , weird eh? very weird? So what does this mean ? Hmm?

That leads us to two hypothesis :

1- AS is not autism , it's a totally different condition. (And if this is true, then Alex must then stop using the word "Autism" to describe the Ozburber's SuperAbility (AS, you guessed it) , in my opinion he must stop it now)

2- Most self-diagnosed or the elf-diagnosed girls and the diagnosed_after_millions_of_visits_to_psychiatrists_till_one_of_them_agreed_that_she_has_AS girls and the undiagnosed 'aspies do not really have this condition that you call AS .
That might also explain why most WP girls are married , had tons of relationships , and quite many even have very normal social and sexual life , and many are even mothers. So maybe we are getting this wrong impression of "AS women have it easier relationship-wise" due to a very unrepresentative sample of AS women.

Loner Mutant, you're just taking your own personal attributes and applying them to all men with aspergers. Half the Male NTs are overweight and drop out of school early too. It's got nothing to do with any sort of neurological condition at all.

Thankyou everybody for responding. So many good points have been made here that I want to respond properly, thus I will be compiling a full length response which may take a little time, but hopefully I will post by the end of today.

Briefly in answer to the question directed to me: I suppose I haven't posted in the Women's discussion because I believe dating is not a gender specific issue and I value the responses of people from both genders in regards to this topic. The reason why I feel uncomfortable posting about my personal problems here is because of the reasons stated above, but mainly because I am afraid of getting hopefuls PMing me in the hopes of a long distance/online relationship. In a different thread, another poster has been skeptical about this occurrence. Let me say that I am always truthful in what I write, and I wouldn't write this if it hadn't happened to me a significant number of times (I believe about 15 times approximately if I must list numbers). Maybe it is dramatic and ridiculous that this should bother me or stress me out (as that same poster implied), but it just does. I think it may be an AS thing.

MissConstrue: I also have only been in one relationship in my life, which ended over 2 years ago (and lasted 7 months).

How is posting an internet meme "stealing your ideas?" His post was so incredibly face palm I am extremely surprised it hasn't been posted at least 10 times before now.
