Maybe she had crappy relationships in the past and was using this as a test. It was a stupid question but sometimes we girls will do and say stupid things just to keep us from getting hurt. It sounds like she needs to get her act together before she would be able to be in any form of relationship. That's just my opinion though.

I completely agree. She may not be looking for someone to just "have fun" with, but for something more serious. OP, you'd just need a different woman who felt more in line with how you feel. Lying is a sh***y way to get what you want - I wouldn't resort to it. Her question didn't seem tricky and your answer wasn't wrong. She probably just doesn't want to feel used.
