In reality, as long as you're not breaking any written rules, abusing your position of power, or committing assault, you can do what you want. Of course, you can always be rejected, or thought of as a pig, but that's a far cry from any real consequences like having to answer to cops or lawyers.

I have had to answer to a cop and a guidance counselor though. Charges were filed against me and dropped by the legal system. I was 14 and she was actually the one harassing me, trying to get me to answer the question "Have you ever seen a girl naked before".

I do ask that you not feel too sorry for me in this regard, I'm happy that I put forth almost zero effort into getting women's attention and still manage to get it though not as fast and often as I'd like. It isn't worth my breath to hit on, approach, go after, etc. women.

I don't feel sorry for you if you don't want to be felt sorry for. Our culture does need to change though to one that has a more positive approach to sexuality and what constitutes respectful behavior.

It is a sad situation that sexuality is met with such fear, but that's all that really happened here. The girl and the school system freaked out and now that fear rubbed off on you. All I was saying earlier is that most of these charges are found to be just fear based rather than evident of any criminal activity.

If you were as a blind man you could just say you were "feeling things out"

I;ve been accused of "hitting on" somebody when I wasn't.

Don't worry about it, if that's all it is.

Wrongly accused - yes.

I was working as a nurse and the queen b!tch nurse tells me to come over to where she was sitting because she wanted to show me something on the computer. She was pregnant and she hated me. She goes "Ok click on that." Looking for the mouse, I see it wedged between the desk and her 8 month pregnant belly. I carefully pull it out and then she starts screaming that I was fondling her belly. This was at the nurses station and there were plenty of people that heard it.

Long story short, I don't work as a nurse any more.

Not in person, no. Although I've been called creepy behind my back by former female acquaintances online though. Not that I let this ruin my life or anything.

Well you do have a very positive attitude about all this. I think that if I had a better understanding of these things that I would know how to interact without offending others.

Back in high school I was the recipient of what may be the stupidest sexual harassment accusation ever. Some girl was following me around making fun of my backpack. I didn't find a verbal response worth the breath so I just flipped her the bird. Later, I get called in for an accusation of sexual harassment. It was about the middle finger, apparently the bird can possibly be interpreted as a phallic symbol. I was suspended for three days because some vindictive b***h realized that sexual harassment rules are so stupid that you can say that you felt uncomfortable because you claimed that you thought the bird was roughly shaped like a penis and get someone in trouble. Not that out of school suspension wasn't pretty sweet, I hated that school.

Many men on the autistic spectrum remain single due to the risks of approaching a woman. They risk accusations of sexual harassment, and the risks help explain why they remain single.

Some of the situations here are sad and ridiculous, matters not being helped if you're in a strongly feminist country, which most WP users are.

I suspect it's a side effect of sexual liberation, and openness about sex.

No matter what you do, you're always putting yourself at some kind of risk. Simply driving to the store could cause a fiery car crash. But nothing worthwhile was ever achieved without risk, and focusing on the worst case scenerio doesn't help.

I feel sorry the guys who got hit with false claims above. It's sad how slander can have so much legal sway concerning this topic. However, those claims seemed to have nothing to do with sexual uncomfortability and everything to do with hatred. In those cases, the law is used as a weapon, and it's not much different than someone trying to stab you, shoot you, poison your coffee, or make any other character defaming claim against you out of thin air. No amount of caution can prevent that.

I guess what I'm saying, is that when approaching women, you should be as worried about a sexual harassment suit as much as you should worry about being shot.

One time a I was wrongly accused of staring at a guy's ass. I wasn't really looking at his butt, I was just lowering my gaze to avoid eye contact and some other guy noticed this and told his buddy, "Dude I think she likes you're ass." It didn't occur to me that indeed I was staring at his ass.

I never been so humiliated in all my life...

To the contrary, I was alway accused as abnormally sexually indifferent toward girls , even by girls. I am hetero.

Harassment is very much in the eye of the beholder. But because of that, it is incumbent upon a people who feels that they have been harassed to first confront the behaviour and demand it stop.

It is only in a case where harassment involves interference that I would suggest that a victim is free to complain without seeking a negotiated cessation to behaviours, first.

i think it is really easy for aspies to be miscontrued in terms of social intentions. we sometimes creep people out because we don't read and transmit signals very effectively. that being said, NTs can sometimes see right through us. what i mean is that...

fictitious example: if i find a guy at work attractive, and i think it is a secret, maybe he can still tell without my intending it to be obvious (he is an NT, so he can tell sometimes). so i am having a conversation with him about quarterly reports or something. and then i stand too close to him by accident (cuz i don't always know how far away i should stand. i do this to everyone at this pretend workplace).

well, maybe he will think i am being sexually harassing because:

1. he knows i find him attractive
2. i behaved in a way that unintentionally crossed a boundary

what i'm trying to say is that a person will be more likely to accuse you of sexual harassment if he/she can tell you find him/her attractive, even if your actual behaviour around them seems pretty innocent or innocuous. sometimes, it isn't about the actual behaviour. sometimes, it is actually about the sexual message you are unintentionally sending.
