Mass generalisations without any evidence base FTW!

I absolutely agree - but my understanding of AS is that those with this condition are actually more likely than the average person to be so.

Again, best not to generalize on this.

What's the damage?

All I have is personal experience and the works of Maxine C. Aston and a couple others who have described fierce loyalty and monogamy as common AS traits. If someone wants to argue that this is an incorrect assumption that sounds like a fine discussion. But what is the harm in my repeating them or asking the question? Is someone offended that they are being accused of being a monogamous personality type?

It's just making presumptions based on personal conjecture.

There is considered to be in popular opinion of transgender communities a high prevailance of aspergers in their communities. But no one has actually carried out a study to prove such claims. Therefore it is a presumed conclusion and a false one. Unless you know for certain it is a personal opinion and can't be looked into any deeper then that.

Hate to be anal (ran out of lube) on this matter but what can I say i'm in arrogant tosser mode tonight and I ain't taking prisoners

It's all good. It was just unexpected to me that my comments could be construed as offensive and honestly were not intended to be so.

Not offended...just would've agreed staunchly before...say...February of this year...not so much now. And I'm in my 40s. We don't always know ourselves as well as we think we do.

I also should have clarified that Aston and others use this description for male aspies only.

I'm not so sure that even this is correct. I've encountered more people here who claimed to be in an open or poly relationship than in any other forum. I'm aware this is only anecdotal evidence, but it's enough to make me doubtful.

Okcupid matched me up with my bf and my friend found her fiance through the site as well. It works better than a lot of sites, I think. ^.^

I can't be bothered with OKCupid - you deal with too many weirdos. I tried it out for a laugh once and can't be bothered to take it seriously.

Not saying it's not a good site where genuine romance can't happen, I'm just not interested in it. I deal with enough morons online as it is anyway.

I used it once. I didn't find anyone. Most people on there are too messed up to begin with, and the ones that aren't probably aren't going to be in your area code anyway. I did find some people that were pretty cool, but they were in a different part of the world.

That didn't stop a friend of mine who lives in Bristol, UK meeting up with a lady friend from New York in his hometown. The relationship got too convoluted for my mate, unfortunately. :(

I met my fiancee on OkCupid. Prior to this, I tried every other dating site with horrible luck.

I think it truly was the quiz-based matching that helped us understand each others' brains up front before even meeting for the first time. We've been together for five years and will be married next October.

I like the languages question when registration. It lists C++ as a speaking language. It was the only non-English box i could consider ticking

that's that site that has the chemistry quiz right? the one with a billion questions on it that have no reasonable answers to? yeah.. i've been there. 99% of them are just the same question re-worded, by the 20th page i was just like "screw this!". there just weren't enough people any where near my area(nevermind anyone I'd actually be interested in), to make it remotely worth while to finish. pretty sure i deleted the account a year ago or more ago, since i get pretty much the same list of results on every single free dating site.
