That it is obvious why you have remained single your whole life and you might as well get accustomed to the fact that this will never change. Not everyone gets to spend a lifetime building a relationship with another person and many people die cold and alone and their corpses are eaten by a herd of semi-feral cats that have taken over the basement and sun-porch.

Having unrealistic expectations is a nifty way of avoiding the real issue, which is fear of intimacy. The only difference between you and me, OP, is I stopped kidding myself.

Maybe I DO have this fear of imtimacy, but where am I supposed to get help? I recently asked my clinic shrink (the one that prescribes my meds) where I can get an Asperger's diagnosis, and he said to forget it because at my age, there's nothing one can do for me anyway (three acounterpoints: a) can lead to a "permanenet Disability" ruling from Social Security instead of the "temporary disability" ruling I currently have. b) can lead to the state Department of Rehab treating me differently in trying to find me gainful employment, if they are not out of money and c) could lead to changing my meds, hopefully to a medication that doesn't cause weight gain like the 80-100 lbs that I have gained since I started taking them).

I cannot afford to switch to a private insurer like Kaiser BTW

All you people with AS wanting sympathy for your 'condition" better start by quitting ragging on fellow ASers. You people can be a cruel bunch to each other.

Where are you finding these AS women to begin with? I don't even know any IRL...

Well From what i've seen, a lot of the guys here are really shallow. The say they can't get women, and what they mean is they can't get an attractive woman.

I would go out with someone "disgusting looking" if I fell for him and he had a great personality.

As for the old "women want rich men to spend money on them" Get with it. This isn't the 1940's where we are confined to a house living off our husbands expenses. There are people who are gold diggers, but it's a niche, and a very small one.
