Amusing thread! I will possibly be spending the day trying to get the stray black kitten who appears to have set up camp in the yard, to come over to me. I cant get it near me yet, though it let me stand 2 metres away while it ate its meal.

So pretty romantic then? ;)

How much does it get celebrated overseas? I mean, here you just get several more couples going out for dinner than usual.

Poor little thing is probably frightened  That's very kind of you to feed it. It's what I would do too, if I could not catch it to take to the SPCA. I couldn't just leave it.

I have to agree with that one to an extent. I never even notice it, often I find out later that it has already happened.

But this time, I am going to try to summon the courage to ask out my crush after school.

Thanks! Yes it does seem a little frightened. It is so cute, it looks like about 4 weeks old, it has sort of smoky black fur and yellowish-green eyes. It has a funny little kitteny face. We are not sure what to do with it but have already bought it a collar and toys with mind to put the collar on one day...

We might keep it, or see if someone in the neighbourhood wants a lovely young black cat.

Its kind of you to take it in, some people aren't as kind. My sisters little black kitten was abused before he was taken away by the spca, before my sister adopted him. It really upset me

Thanks. Yes we already have a cat and a dog so were not seeking any more pets, but both me and my mother are pretty taken with this kitten, it is very funny, it lives in the shrubbery and comes out for meals and slinks back in again. My cat has been surprisingly tolerant of it.

It was kind of a no brainer really as you cant just ignore a baby animal if it comes to your place for food. Or an adult for that matter.

So we have a new pet... well my mum anyway, seeing it is their house, I am here temporarily (though it is hard to leave with all these great pets around).

It's mainly that but it's also advertised everywhere - TV, windows, billboards, etc. It's also talked about alot, I'm the only single person of eight staff at work so hear about it alot.

There's no escape!

That should be my valentine's to my ex.

A romantic bag of vomit. Maybe with some hearts on the bag. Eat some chocolate so it can at least smell nice.

hale_bopp, that's pretty much how Valentine's is celebrated in the UK as well.

My fiance and I are having our Valentine's day on the 13th as we are both working on the day itself and we have to see to his mother as well as she is poorly. So on the 13th, we are just going to go for a wander round the shops, have a meal and spend some quality time together. Sounds good.

Well it is the 13th tomorrow, I will be doing my Valentine's Day shopping. I am thinking flowers, bubble bath, maybe some skin moisturiser or other product. Perhaps a new book. Any other suggestions are welcome. :) Im also thinking of what to cook. might make some veg sushi rolls.

I think people who have an extreme hate for Valentine's Day need to take a chill pill. No one's forcing you to celebrate it no more than anyone can make you celebrate Christmas or you own birthday.

If I could somehow avoid seeing all the extreme advertisement for it everywhere I go, that would be a nice big "chill pill" for me. Christmas would require a much stronger one, that would eliminate the (even worse) extreme advertisement along with the worst traffic of each year and people's need to act extra Jesusy.

Pretty much this. For those of us who struggle to meet people it can stick in the throat, it's all around us at this time.
