I hate any pictures of me whatsoever. I detest taking them, having them taken, looking at them, or having other people see them. No wonder I don't get on too well with Facebook...

I think Emma looks quite attractive in her new avatar pic

asp-z - I got randomly added by some local activist on Facebook last week and he had over a thousand friends. My number? About 35, none of whom are real life friends and some of whom aren't even people.

I hate looking at images of myself. I avoid mirrors like The Plague. The person I see isn't the person I imagine myself to be.

I hate it too for multiple reasons. I can't relax enough in the pictures enough to smile naturally. My family always picks on me for it. I can't help it. I don't know how I'll deal with it when my friend's wedding rolls around. I'm a bridesmaid too so it's not like I can hide and avoid pictures. Another reason is my weight. When I look in the mirror, I don't think I look terrible but as soon as a picture is taken, every roll of fat is highlighted, even ones I didn't think existed. My mom says, "oh when you lose weight, you'll be more confident so you'll smile better!" No mom, that's not how it works. Even when I was thinner, I always looked stiff in pictures. D:

Apparently the convention of smiling in picture's only came into being in the 20 th century so before that people frowned, posed moodily or just did what they liked. I think we should bring back the old way of doing things. Or just dont take pics at all and allocate a certain ammount of lovin' to everyone. I want my share.

Same here. If people want a good smile from me, they have to make sure I'm not aware of the camera. Sadly, my family doesn't even bother with that. "Honey, smile!" f**k, it's gone. :P

I try my hardest to look relaxed when I'm having my picture taken, but when I'm looking at the photograph of myself I am always pulling a funny face. I hold an ugly posture anyway, but I think in photos my ugly posture seems to stand out more boldly. Also my front teeth glow, my eyes are red, and my face looks whiter than ever. This is why I'm put off having my photo done.

I look totally different when I look at myself in a mirror. I look normal.

I get that too. I really don't know what other people see when they take the shot, they don't seem to have a clue how to make me look lovely. But then they're not very good portrait photographers, they're just people with cameras. When I was doing the agency dating thing, I took my own portraits specially for it, and everybody liked them fine...especially me. On the other hand, I've no idea how my idea of my own beauty correlates with anybody else's.
