Is it acceptible to ask a friend to hook you up with someone

I know this is an old thread but I'll post incase another member is wondering
Most all my few friends knew I was single & very lonely cuz I talked/complained about it alot. I never asked em to set me up but some have volunteered how they wished they knew someone who would be willing to give me a chance or something similar. I see nothing wrong with asking friends to hook you up but don't put a lot of pressure on them or yourself or the idea of having a relationship if they do set you up.

Being set up with someone by a third party sounds like cheating to me. Generally in the animal kingdom, the process of weeding out weak, unworthy males is twofold: females are supposed to reject most of them, but the rest need to be deterred by stronger, menacing males defiantly standing in their way, so the females won't even have to bother with them. Any shortcut, therefore, means going behind your potential rivals' back, as opposed to boldly challenging them.

Then again, what do I know about having friends in the first place!

I wish I was set up when I was in my later teens or early 20s. I would of rathered have an arranged marriage thou. It would of been a lot better than being alone & trying my best but not getting anywhere with women till I was about 30.
