Is this kind of music inappropriate for a romantic dinner?

Miles Davis, Sinatra, it's all nice and sweet but she's 18 not 81.

PS: Someone sent me a PM recommending Vangelis, anyone got an opinion on that?

A lot of 18 year old girls can dig that but, if you're looking for something newer to mash it up with... I don't know....Jamiroquai? Black Joe Louis? There's a lot of funky/uplifting stuff out there that rings sincere, I don't know though, since you're probably 10 years younger than me, what's resonating with guys your age right now and, hence, what specific choices would make add to the atmosphere for both of you. Adele? Muse? Killers? There's lots of stuff out there.

I don't know. I like the old stuff but I'm not sure someone my age would. What's the best Sinatra album to buy anyway? Critics seems to say to stay away from compilations.

I think maybe more in the style of Wicked Game by Isaak perhaps? What kind of similar stuff is out there?

I think a lot of us would tell you that Wicked Game is still too brooding and serious but then again you know your pad, your dinner environment, and the girl you're bringing over better than we do so this is really all kind of in generality if we were going to consider the music - on its own - for ourselves if we were doing the same thing.

What do you mean by too serious? Too romantic or too boring?

Dark, brooding, heavy, etc..

Not sure who that is? Can you post a sample song you like?

By the way: Do you think one needs more than one CD for a dinner? Isn't it rude to stand up and replace the CD once an hour? Or do you just let the music stop and make a move towards a kiss or something?

Are you sure? I just started listening to an old SInatra CD my aunt has here and it depresses me, makes me feel just awful, the music is nice but I just want to go to bed take the foetal position and sleep it away... :?

You can't go wrong with atmospheric jungle / drum & bass. Dinn Warde's Maat Wedding mix (you'd have to find out if its still up), maybe Promised Land vol. 2 or 3, some LTJ Bukem, or Roni Size and Reprazent's New Forms LP; lots of highbrow champaign-tipping rollers out there.

Its close to too much, he has uppers just like he has downers though. Downers are probably better for riding in the car if you're having a pensive moment. For a girl you're just getting to know - keep it uppers.

I think you can, but it's a matter of taste.

Light rock like Trane could be fine as well - again, providing its something you'd be up for listening to. If she sees you going way out your usual it might seem a bit odd.
