Bad idea. The "I can change him/her" speech is pure BS.
If you love her, you accept her for who she is.
As for taking her, no. There's other fish in the sea.
She's engaged to someone who's apparently not a complete as*hole.
If you try to steal her, you will lose any credibility as a person who respects other people and relationships, and instead you're going to be the as*hole (I hope you're not).
The whole idea you brought up is the kind of thing a caveman would do.
If you're willing to put her through all those kinds of deceptions, you apparently don't love her.
If you do love her, you would let her know your intentions and let her make the decision.
If she choses you, then you'd better stay that course, if she choses him, then you should leave it be and wish them the best.

And saying your handicap somehow justifies it only makes things worse.
You know you have one and what you need to do to conquer it.
I use it as a strategic advantage myself, but on the other hand I'm decent enough to not steal other people's girlfriends.

You do realize that only 2 more cliches and the English language would have collapsed into itself in a terrific firestorm; taken out most of the Western Hemisphere. As for all of your BS arguments, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Morality is herd instinct in the individual. You don't think it's right to steal a girlfriend because society has taught you as much. In actuality, it's her decision and she may be roped into it by this guy who just happened to come along first.

A cliche is a phrase which has been used so much that it becomes passe. Now, why do you think a phrase would get used to this extent? Maybe, just maybe, because millions of people over tens of generations and thousands of miles have independently had the same thoughts. In other words, cliches only become cliches because they tend to be true; so true that eventually they are regarded as self-evident truths and mentioning them just causes frustration because "everybody knows that already".

I don't think you've really thought this through. Do you not wonder why social codes exist? The whole point is that individuals sacrifice some individual freedoms for the benefit of society as a whole, in order to retain their place within that society and benefit from all of the good things which it offers. Living in an anarchic state would mean no safety or justice, no equality, no health care, no pollution controls, no clean water.... The world would be run by Jocks and the only law would be violence and rape. You'd be lonely, starving and getting the sh-t beaten out of you every day. Worse, if you had a lover then the same things would be happening to them.

Your society is trifling and stupid. You think this is f*****g safety? I'd rather live in anarchy; I'd rather be raped and have violence every day of the week than live in your BS normal society. The anarchists at least admit that they do it. The society and its rules are giving it to you up the ass every day of the week, and you just don't realize it because they tell you it's normal. Society and its rules have done nothing worth praising. You are the one that has failed to think things through. Stop taking safety and start taking a stand against the society that slowly erodes your independence every single day. Stop telling this poor bastard to live by the rules society gives him; it's misleading and idiotic.

I'm not saying things are automatically good in Western capitalist 'democracies'. There are many injustices which make me furious. But the best way to change a system is usually from within. Fight for what you believe in, and change the things that need to be changed, and in the long run the world will be a better place for everyone.

Anarchy rewards nothing but violence. No mains water, no electricity, no law enforcement, no equality, no freedom of speech, no medical help, no garbage disposal, no protection from abuse, no hope, no future. Just a bunch of desperate people fighting amongst themselves. Until one day when they think, hey, maybe if we stopped fighting, we could live closer together and share things and look after one another? Maybe Ug could do the cooking while I'm out hunting and Nrgh is making some nice new loin cloths? And then the whole process will start off once again...

You have zero idea what you're talking about. Somalia has internet cafes and telecommunications to many major cities. The electricity and technology is some of the best in Africa.

We weren't talking about Somalia, though, were we? Though as it happens Somalia is a nation permanently on the verge of civil war where the people have an average life expectancy of 48 years.

"Somalia continues to have one of the highest child mortality rates in the world, with 10% of children dying at birth and 25% of those surviving birth dying before age five. The international aid group, Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) has further stated that the level of daily violence due to the lack of government is "catastrophic."

The private sector.. supplies water. However, a statistic from 2000 indicated that only 21% of the population had access to safe drinking water at that time. With the collapse of the central government, the education system is now private. A World Bank study reports "modest gains in education." As last measured in 2001, primary school enrollment, which stood at 17%, was nearly at pre-war levels, and secondary school enrollment had been increasing since 1998. However, "adult literacy is estimated to have declined from the already low level of 24% in 1989 to 17.1% in 2001." [1] A more recent 2003 study reported that the literacy rate had risen to 19%. [2] In comparison, literacy is at 49% in wealthier West Africa and 35% among its neighbours."

"Years of fighting between rival warlords and an inability to deal with famine and disease have led to the deaths of up to one million people".

But yes, you're right - their telecommunications market is booming. Well, that's all right then!

We were talking about anarchy, and Somalia is the only populated state that reflects anarchy. Moreover, I never said that they had any water, food, or life expectancy. I was aware of the fact that those things were in the crapper. However, you claimed that they had poor electricity and telecommunications, which was wrong. I had to call you on it as such.

well it's not so BS as u think.... i don't want my kids to grow up & be suicide bombers... i do love her & respect her for who she is.. but then religion isn't a part of anybody... it's just some stupid concepts that get put into ur head when your too young to think for yourself... everyone's born an atheist

what if she's "the one" for me?... anyways you don't know the other guy so how can you say he's not a complete as*hole? he's a masseuse, and he refuses to give her a foot massage for f***s sake!

anyways i haven't put her through any deceptions.. i've just been quiet about my feelings for her... if i decide to, i'll tell her and then tell her that she's free to do whatever she likes... it's her choice entirely...

anyways, i don't want to become just another statistic like the other guy said... my whole life, everytime i really like a girl, someone else comes along and whisks them away...

if merchant A offers something for 10$ and merchant B offeres something for 5$, is B "stealing" customers from A? well i guess so, but so what? what if she finds a better life with me than with him?

salam hellznrg,

you are the closer member here geographically ! !! Yupppi!!

btw i am ex-muslim too .

Now about your question .....well ...just keep in mind the ladder theory .
In ladder theory , women have 2 ladders : the potential bfs ladder and the friends ladders ....when a woman meets a guy she ll directly put this guy on one of these ladders .
Surely you are put on the friends ladder ...and if you try to jump to the other ladder she ll kick you at your head and make you fall in the abyss.

Fair enough., though I think their communications boom is centered around the capital. I know it took UN intervention to arrange an international telephone connection! The other issue with Somalia is that there's a lot of foreign influence (mostly involving weaponry - a good example of how organised nations can suck :? ) - both current and historic. This distorts the picture away from true anarchy to something far more complex. The point is that social living has more long-term benefits and less disadvantages than living in a state of total anarchy, even if there are many things within society which ARE rubbish. I maintain that the best way forward is to tackle the problems within the system rather than abolishing it.

"It has been said that Democracy is the worst form of Government, except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." - Winston Churchill, speech to the House of Commons, Nov. 1947.

You should at least give it a shot. If the girl wants to stay loyal to her fiance, then she'll know the marriage will last and you might actually do them a service.

23 Sep 2006, 7:45 pm

No don't. It be very rotton if you did do it. Only selfish people would do it.

And at this point it has become a philosophical debate of Survival of the Fittest vs. Survival of the First. As such, I think this topic ought to be moved.

If you can win her heart and you are sincere, then yes go for it. If you just want a conquest, leaver her alone - IMO.
