That doesn't sound like she's being unusually kind or complimentary.

I like to chat up the cashier girls as soon as I walk up, they'll say "hi" and I'll say "hey there!" enthusiastically of course and then I might ask a question like "are you having fun today?" with a smile and slight sarcastic inflection and they will usually answer back with a sarcastic positive comment. A little small but witty banter followed by some quick flirting...

Anyway! See about asking her to write her number on the back of your receipt or something... but you can't be so direct usually. I'm sure you'll think of something!

Hello I was wondering if you would taste this whipped cream that you stock and tell me what you think.
I just put the gross in grocery.
In all seriousness though, you could try asking her work hours if she is that interested in you.

soo.. i came across a slight miscalculation in my plan. i dont even know when she works! so basically the best lead i have to talk to her again is to go in the day that i met her (monday night) of next week. XD

and idk, maybe i read her wrong. im certainly going to try though! and i feel confident, too. i can be quite charming when girls are involved :P

You do know that it's not because women aren't funny, right? Think about the audience. What do *they* expect of women, in general?

Very many men (in my experience) are unnerved by funny women, *especially* if they also find her attractive.

Then do what I said and ask for her work hours. Possibly her number.

I was a cashier and that would creep me out. Come around when it's later like you did before. She would be more comfortable to chat a bit. If your charming, like you say you shouldn't have too much trouble.

All people here who are telling you to chat her up in the grocery are being very unrealistic.

Ok, let's just assume that she wouldn't be bothered: how the hell you'd be able to chat with her while she's working and while there are people behind you waiting?
And even if you're chatting her outside of the line, for how long you think you'd be able to talk with her before getting her management's attention?

I dunno, I think the only way in that case is the hardest-way, the one that usually works in movies or for the super charming players: To ask for her name and her number directly.

Don't ask me how, I have no damn idea.

I agree. The location is just terrible for someone who is socially awkward.I know that I couldn't ask her name and number directly,if the OP can do it ,then great,go for it ,but I would be looking at either ,someone else or try to find a different way of meeting her.

I actually almost pulled off a similar situation .There was a girl who worked nights in a convenience store and when I would go to the store late at night ,it would always be just me and her in the store. It was a quiet setting ,quite ideal.I would converse with her a little more everytime I went in and I think she really was interested but I blew it by not going to the store for about a week and a half [as I started to work a different shift].When I started going back to the store she was cold as ice. So,the lesson obviously is when I should have pushed forward and asked her out ,I made the mistake of retreating and blowing the opportunity.

I had a similar situation with a bank teller but the thing I learned is sometimes there are girls out there that are just really friendly...with everyone. She always had a big smile on her face anytime I'd come in and she called me by my name and everything. It's just really tough to tell the difference between someone liking you and just being really friendly with you(no different then they would be to an old man). In my case I was careful to notice days later the bank teller had a ring on her left hand so luckily, I saved myself the embarrassment of trying to make a move but my advice is be cautious.

Also remember that people who work in shops (or any public-facing role) have to be polite and courteous as part of their job, because nobody likes unfriendly or hostile staff. I'm not saying she wasn't genuine, but it's something you have to account for.
