If by "interesting" you mean "misogynist BS" then sure.

Really, would you expect anything else?

No but I could hope.

Go for the head, not the body, if you possibly can. I know it's harder for guys because for them initial attraction (note I said "initial") is evolutionarily programmed to be more looks based (woman who looks most capable of healthy reproduction) than initial attraction for women (man most likely to stick around and help nurture said offspring and protect woman - hunting capability and intellect). I'm not buying into anything that says this has any meaning in the long run (because I don't think it does), just saying that for initial dumb attraction there've been a lot of studies on this so I think it has basis in fact.

Thus long term - longer than say the first few hours/few weeks - I think the mind is everything.

The truth is, people can't help what they like. Some people only date skinny chicks, only blondes, only girls with big rumps, and the fat chicks are not their preference. But as much as people don't like to admit it and as much as they like to make fun of fatties, there are many men and women that are chubby chasers.. google it or look at craigslist. And on the other hand, I still see thin people in the world who prefer slim people...I don't think the obesity epidemic is that bad. After reading your post, you seemed to be freaking out about finding a 10 but how would you rate yourself? Would a 10 really want you? You admitted to not being financially stable, so what other qualities do you have that would make you desirable enough to catch a 10? Good luck!

"Chubby chasing" is a fetish, as differentiated from the norm of thin being seen as attractive.
Meanwhile, in the West, more than TWO THIRDS of everyone is overweight if not obese.

I just still can't get around that we live in a time where obesity/being overweight is considered an actual medical disease. I'm well aware there are many cases where people have no choice in the matter due to a multitude of illnesses and medical problems, medication, etc. and so forth. However, to have something be so prevalent in day to day society that they consider it an actual disease and have drugs for it (Those ones that catch fat cells and break them down for example), just seems bizarre. It's like, baffling as all hell and frankly, rather scary.

I've had plenty of classically handsome lovers, but its got to be go for the head everytime.

Actually I'm attracted to brains first not bodies. Before I know it the scrawny whippet or the beer bellied bruiser looks truly madly like the most radiantly beautiful man I have ever seen. Thats how my eyes and how love works. If there was a line up of lovers and exactly equivalent body type strangers, I'm sure I'd even surprise myself with what degree body looks becomes unimportant once you really desire someone.

From a scientific perspective, there's a simple and obvious hypothesis: you must consider the American lifestyle as an environmental hazard. I'm not trying to be judgmental, but obesity adversely affects health and sometimes reproduction, so from a biological perspective it is hazardous. So what happens over time when a human population is exposed to an environmental hazard? Well, for the most parts our standards of beauty don't change, which serves the purpose of driving us towards the mates who appear the most "normal" - that is, who seem to have some resistance to said hazard. Which in this case means people who can eat a lot without putting on weight. But there's also some shift in our preferences to compensate for the new conditions, so that we would prefer people who displayed signs of being better able to cope with excess weight health-wise, which would probably mean a preference for more evenly distributed weight gain. So basically if we stuck to gorging ourselves on fatty foods for generation after generation eventually the norm and our aesthetic preference would shift to "pleasantly plump", and future generations would be better genetically equipped to eat a lot of fatty foods without becoming overly obese or suffering as many health effects as the average person now.

I have found though, that if you date somebody purely for looks, you sacrifice something else. I once dated the, I swear to God, best looking man I have ever seen. He was gorgeous. All my friends were jealous. I could sit and look at him all night. The problem was, he was flat out stupid. I mean truly stupid. No disorder or anything, he was just stupid. I could not stand to hear him talk. I dated him for about six months until I just couldn't stand it anymore when he opened his mouth to speak.

Was he of average or below average intelligence?

Nor am I someone who dates based on looks.

I've never met someone who truly-gorged themselves, especially not out of wanton gluttony.
People are obese in the West because the food, and especially the most affordable food, is nutrient-poor,
and thus people are driven to eat more volume-wise.

Also, obesity isn't synonymous with bad health.
The two are correlated because both can result from eating a certain type of food.
There are also individuals with truly-slow metabolisms.

And I still don't agree that aesthetic standards are dictated by the majority in some de facto, pseudo-democratic style:
they are purposefully crafted by institutions, and serve a market purpose.

Fat is new normal. :( Attractiveness is a secondary consideration though. I'm more thinking along the lines of diabetes and heart disease and spiralling health care bills. C'mon Americans. It isn't that hard staying in shape.

Average height and weight in the US:

Men:
Height (inches): 69.4
Weight (pounds): 194.7
Waist circumference (inches): 39.7

I'm 4 inches taller and 15 lbs lighter and 7 inches smaller in the waist.

Women:
Height (inches): 63.8
Weight (pounds): 164.7
Waist circumference (inches): 37.0

My girlfriend is half an inch shorter and 60 lbs lighter and 11-12 inches smaller in the waist.

Neither of us are supermodel rail-thin. I'm an athlete and have a lot of muscle mass. I eat a lot and train a lot. She doesn't. She just walks an hour every day, and does yoga.
