I met my 1st gf on Comedy Central's forums. We were just friends & I wasn't looking for a relationship then but she told me she liked me after a while & I realized I liked her.

I met my 2nd by making a post here in L&D asking or advice on how to find a companion & she replied that she was looking for the same thing.

My 3rd who's current & very hopefully last; had seen some of my post here & messaged me.

I had no luck but bad trying to meet women offline & on dating sites.

Apparently WP has been the source of a fair amount of relationships. That's quite interesting~

I am speculating but perhaps a lot of the required ''socialization'' wasn't really necessary with the three women you describe. That is a lot of the guess work was eliminated, you didn't have to watch for eye contact that sort of thing . You already knew that they were at least somewhat interested so it was much easier to get the ball rolling.

That some of it but also we are all quite different from most & meeting on forums was more for that. These were all long distance relationships too.

I met all of my relationships online.

The first was on a dating site called Emode/Tickle, I had feelings for him and I never knew what he felt for me, but we were planning on meeting in person. (I call it my first relationship because of how I felt about him.)

The second I received his email address from my mom who had been writing to him for a while and she thought since he wanted a young woman to talk to and I was eligible that she would go along with it and tell me about him. He told me he loved me very soon after we were talking and so we ended up having a relationship for over a year.

The boyfriend I have now, who is wonderful and I never want to let go of, I met here on WP. I stalked him online for two weeks without writing to him because of anxiety but I'm soooo glad I did message him. If he hadn't said he was single and looking I never would have found him.

We met when we were small children at the same school where my mom teaches at to this day.

She moved to the Bay Area with her family when she was 10
and moved back to Portland about two years ago.

In November of last year, she found me on Facebook {figures, huh?}
and we have been together ever since, despite only have gone on one date.
We have been too busy to see each other.

My Aspie and I worked together for the better part of six years (until he lost his job week before last). We didn't even like each other the first year or so, yet I knew the day I met him he was going to change my world. Slowly, over years two through four, we went from casual acquaintances to friends to best friends. Then, when my marriage fell apart last year, he stepped in and became my rock and my sweetheart, and I never looked back. Now, I can't imagine living life without him, despite all the challenges/issues we each bring to the relationship.

My husband, who is definitely Aspie, joined a church group that my sister was in, and they became good friends. Very good friends. And she started telling the both of us how much we had in common, so by the time we first met, at a large party, we were definitely curious about each other. And we had the best conversations. And I adored the sparkle in his eyes and his beautiful smile ... but he never called me, and I figured it wasn't meant to be, and dated someone else.

Two full years later he asked me out. Seems he had stuff he needed to work through, and hadn't felt he was ready for a relationship. Given the amount of time that had passed, he didn't feel he could just call me and ask me out, so he asked my sister if she thought he should. I guess she told him yes ;)

And that was that.

The sister that introduced us is now married to man who became very good friends with our other sister through work.

lol, we are ssuuuccchhh an old fashioned family, it seems. It isn't like we set out to do it this way.

Can you tell why I have little patience for men who want a serious relationship but consider becoming friends with a women to be some inadequate shove off?

Ex - I had been friends with for 8 years, went gigs and stuff together. I met her Bfs she met my Gfs, had no real feelings then one day out of the blue I started liking her more then a friend and it turned out she'd liked me for a while.. Winner :D

Ex 2 - Met when she threw up on me XD turned out she had been spiked, I took care of her until the ambulance came, went to hospital with her, stayed the night because she couldn't contact her parents as she'd lost her phone. When she woke up we got chatting turned out she lived a few miles from me. We started hanging out and her diverse taste in music got me hooked.

Met her four years ago at high school, I only knew she was good at chess. Three years ago we became good... acuaintances (like someone I'd enjoy talking to if we bumped into each other, but would not seek) after finding out we had a similar taste in books, and even exchanged some and then talked about them. I was starting to get interested in her, but then I went to Germany for one year and lost all contact. Last year I found out we were in the same university, and we became good friends. This year, on St Valentine's day (which was a complete coincidence btw), after a series of random events where we ended up in a bar at 11pm, I told her I had feelings for her, mostly to get it out of my system, but against what I considered the most likely outcome she said yes :D.
We're going strong. I enjoy her company, and wonder where will the future take us.

We met 6 months ago at a swing dance right before Halloween, so everyone for the most part was wearing costumes. He and his friend showed up as scientists, lab coats and all, and I was dressed as a girl from the 1940's/50's. (Creative, I know...but apparently going to the dance was a last minute decision for both of us. haha.)

I saw him walk in and it was love at first sight (for me anyway...I kept an eye on him while he talked to other people so he didn't see me right away). I finally got up the nerve to talk to him so I walked up and introduced myself, and one of the first things he asked me was "Do you like industrial history?" Little did I know his obsession was with steam locomotives. Since I am a history buff, we started talking, and then dancing, and the rest is..well..history. haha. We've been together ever since. :)
