I had noticed something similar to this in the past. Though never attributed it to in the manner of attractiveness. In my case I have a very defined strut when incredibly angry, and a gaze that should set things on fire. As a result while in that mode people will jump out of my way as if i was walking with a gun or a katana or something.

After noticing that specific example i tried to look for others, to see how people reacted to me wether by not noticing i exist, turning away or turning to (which would be some sort of attraction or friendliness). Ive noticed in a club/bar enviroment the time i have women look at me is as i walk to the bathroom . Im relatively serious faced, standing quite upright and usually have a hand out to push people slightly away. compared to just strolling through the place with a small grin and a relaxed pose makes people not notice my existence.

Smiles ftw. It doesn't have to be a big fake grin, but looking generally interested and cheerful makes someone look more approachable and engaging. I think happy Boo looks nicer than boo hoo. :)

when i already know someone i like to see them laughing and having a good time when they interact with me (not a big plastered-on smile like for a job interview. a happy face that happens because.... he's talking to me and we're having fun).

but if i see a picture before i meet a guy, it's better if he looks serious. like he has something important to think about. but NOT arrogant or too relaxed. ahhh never mind. too hard to explain. basically, i want to be responsible for PUTTING a big smile on his face - not from seeing me for the first time because then it's shallow. but once we get talking and stuff i want him to be happy. we'd have serious talks too, and he wouldn't have to be jolly all the time.... somehow the serious pictures i am attracted to don't indicate the personality i want to interact with all the time.

To be honest, the timing couldn't be worse for me. =P It went from me posing and auditioning in a photo shoot and the next post says people looking like dorks when smiling in photos. Hahaha...

It enforces the belief in some gender stereotypes at best, eh? a duckface? seriously? i don't understand men either.

by "Men’s photos are most effective when they look away from the camera and don’t smile" , I always get Wolfheart's images in my mind, he's never smiling in pics and always looking away (hence why i always hear women here finding him very hot...).

It's like a real wolf or eagle looking at the vast plains *rawr* - ahh now i know why women like this look, it's the look of the hunter hmm.
