That really speaks to the success of dairy marketing more than anything....

It could just be that I don't know so much about the dairy market. I eat diary products rarley I rather eat flesh then anything with some veggies.

But I love to drink milk I like milk that is watered down though it tastes the best.

I'm looking at my carton of almond milk. It has half my daily calcium in a single cup. More than double that of dairy milk.

Soy is cheaper, at least at my Kroger, and depending on the brand.
There's also coconut and rice milk, and a few others.

I like milk a lot. I have tried almond and soy. Soy tastes gross, almond is decent. I would rather have regular milk but I would drink almond

Which flavor did you try?
I like vanilla.

I can't mentally-stomach the thought of drinking another species' mammary secretions, even if I could taste milk.

regular on both alternatives. On regular milk I just started drinking 1% instead of 2%, whole milk tastes amazing!

Vanilla or chocolate had a lot more sugar

Easiest way to get calcium is eat bones. Yep. No seriously though, fish with bones, just eat the bones. Even a can of sardines gets you like 40% of your DV of calcium.

I don't know if it's the meat or not but I have an extremely high sex drive, I sleep like a cat and I have a high energy level. Saying that, I have injected testosterone into myself without having a deficiency in testosterone and I have a high meat diet, I don't know if those factors have helped with certain traits and symptoms of Autism or not.

As for me, I don't really care whether people want to be vegan or not, however I believe that if you aren't prepared to kill your meat, you are somewhat hypocritical for eating it so I can respect a vegan from that aspect.

Does the need for supplements not point out a deficiency in the diet, for example B12. Research has concluded that many vegans have suboptimal levels of said vitamin.

First of all, the quote I provided doesn't mention a NEED for vegans to use supplements. I believe it read "in some cases".

The source I refereed to also mentioned the position of the ADA and pointed out that is possibly not up to date with more recent research about vegan and vegetarian diets and the need for B12-supplements.

Quote:
In any case....
The ADA speaks positively of supplements for all people.
"It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that the best nutrition-based strategy for promoting optimal health and reducing the risk of chronic disease is to wisely choose a wide variety of nutrient-rich foods. Additional nutrients from supplements can help some people meet their nutrition needs as specified by science-based nutrition standards such as the Dietary Reference Intakes. The use of dietary supplements in general, and nutrient supplements in particular, is prevalent and growing in the United States, with about one third of adults using a multivitamin and mineral supplement regularly."

And they do not advice to first check whether it is possible to get the required nutrition from making modification to ones diet, before is to consider taking supplements?

Quote:
To say that X group of people is more likely to be deficient in XYZ says nothing of the diet itself, and more of individual variation. Surely it's more than possible, if not easy, for omnivores to get phytochemicals, for instance, despite the fact that the SAD is sorely lacking in this and many other nutrients?

SAD? Like in the stereotype that Americans eat at MacDonalds every day?

Quote:
To assert there is some magical nutrient found only in animal products is literally contrary to decades of nutritional research.

Straw man argument. The research I referred to wrote about suboptimal B12 levels in a substantial amount of vegans and vegetarians.

Right, and since the ADA specifically mentions supplementation as possibly-needed,
and since individualist food choices have nothing whatsoever to do with overall dietary adequacy...

I'm still lulzing at the idea that the vegan population, nay, the vegan MALE population- strike that- the ASPERGIAN vegan male population is large enough to even warrant casual discussion. We might as well talk about the bisexual black Republican voting bloc.
