Jerry, I was wondering, how did you get the nickname of "The Whale"?
Somebody finally asked that question
I always felt out of step as a kid and once I saw my first whale, I wanted to be one so I would be so big that the world would have to be in step with me!! That first whale hangs in the Hall of Ocean Life in NYC. It is a replica of a blue whale caught off the coast of South America in the twenties. Schoolkids call her, "Big Blue." Big Blue is 94 feet long and I married in 1994.
In 1993, I saw "Free Willy" six times. My favorite scene, besides the ending, was when the young boy first touched Willy. That inspired me to make my whale costume which I wore when I met Mary.
The funny thing about the costume is it has a 78 inch waistline, thanks to the bicycle rim used to support the waist under the chickenwire.
Josh Hartnett was born in 1978 and is 1978 days younger than Mary's oldest son, Stephen, who was never diagnosed but was hypelexic and still seems a little aspie to me.
Josh and I were both born in years of Triple Crown winners. Citation on in 1948 and was the last before Secretariat in 1973. Affirmed won in 1978 and we are still waiting for another horse to join him.
