I cried when my boyfriend shaved his long beautiful sexy hair and trimmed his beard right down. I love that my boyfriend has a beard. It is a physical feature that attracts me to him. :-)

I sincerely hope that is tongue in cheek.

I so need a new one myself since the beard trimmer I have now can't seem to cut butter...tht & I need more experience in using it as I have a huge fear of it getting stuck on my face in a jam.I tried(and failed miserable) just last week to shave using a standard razor since it literally couldn't cut it.

i've used a beard trimmer for all my bearded life (maybe a year total) till yesterday. i trimmed it with scissors yesterday and mi beard is now better than ever. that was from way overgrown bush to fairly short, dunno how well it'll work for minor trimming

I feel this is the appropriate moment to insert these two songs. Because I think everyone should have body hair. :|

Not always. I'm going mention Star Trek The Next Generation here; some women liked the bald look of captain Picard & think that Riker looked better after he grew his beard.
BTW male pattern baldness is caused by a genetic sensitivity of hair follicles to DHT. Not high testosterone.

Yeah, I don't see why beard hate is unanimous. I understand people have their preferences, but I'm surprised it's so lopsided.

I've had my beard for about 5 years now, and I still like it. I do keep it trimmed so I don't look like a hobo.

"why doesn't the world find my unaltered state most attractive :x"
"women should have to alter themselves to be attractive!"

wah wah wah

maybe because being as 'masculine' as possible isn't what is most attractive to all hetero women
maybe because culture plays a bigger part in our choices than nonsense pop 'science' devotees care to recognize
maybe smooth skin just feels nice

Well I have tried changing how I look to possibly attract someone and it doesn't seem to matter. I have tried long hair, short hair, beard, no beard, every combination possible. I have gotten the most responses from having a beard. My guess is to hide my hideous face. I have had guys comment and say I have a badass beard. I had a girl who was flirting with me for over a month (since I am shy and didn't realize for a few weeks what she was doing) while I had a beard. One day I decided to shave it off and and went to her store to pick up supplies for work and when she saw me she started laughing and wouldn't even make eye contact with me. The after I grew it back out, she became interested again. Unfortunately this made me feel like crap because she was someone who was more interested on what was on the outside. Well, women aren't interested anyways so I will continue ro rock my beard, keep it trimmed up, and hope for the best.

What I have noticed is that women in my area associate clean shaven with success. People who have to bust their ass for what they have usually have beards so they aren't really attracted to them. who knows

I don't think I have been clean shaven in years, I just use a beard trimmer to shave it down to a stubble when it gets too thick. I just prefer the rugged and scruffy look, some women like that look and some women prefer smooth shaven men.

I think it really depends on whats in style at the moment. When I first met my husband, back in the 80's, mustaches were still in style (think Magnum PI type) and he had one. Then he grew a beard and I liked it. It wasn't really long, but he went a good six months without shaving and he's real hairy. Lots of guys grew them back then. They weren't seen as ugly.

Nowdays the short beards are in and I think those look nice too. I like the little goatees that were popular several years ago.

Styles come and go. Back in the 60s and 70s long straight hair for women was popular and then you either had to cut it or style it or something or people thought you didn't look right. Now long straight hair is back. Beards will come back too when enough of the fashion powers that be decide to use them in ads and such.

I think beards are seen to denote certain "types" of guys-- viz. the "hippy" type described above, and sometimes also intellectual/academic types. A clean shaven man comes across as more of an "average guy." So if that's true, I suppose whether you like them depends on what type of man attracts you. Personally, I don't mind either way. Short beards look good on a lot of guys, but a few look odd with them. As far as I'm concerned it's up to the man what is more comfortable for him.

No, I don't. I live in England, but they're just excellent.

Culture does play a part in why beards are seen as unattractive, but this is again because of tabloid, fashion magazines and MTV. Media labelling something that's a sign of good health and maturity as ugly makes no sense.

Apart from the fact that the hairs are slightly more coarse, beards feel no different than scalp hair if they're trimmed to an even length.

Furthermore, until the 1990's, being "as masculine as possible" was considered very attractive.
