Often yes, but not always.

The other common one is where somebody is definitely not NT, but they may not meet all 6 diagnostic critera for AS, instead they may meet 4 or 5 and not meet one or two of the most primary indicators, and therefore not qualify for a diagnosis of PDD-NOS or AS, but they may still have difficulty functioning to some extent because of it.

I had one friend in particular who really enjoyed and was great at socializing, but it did tire him out, just not as much as it did me. Yet he met ever other critera for AS and it did have an impact on his life and plus some extra stuff which are common co-morids (synesthesia, alexithymia and ADD).

I don't think that would make it awkward. I might actually prefer it.

You would think that after "Twilight", Aspies would be the new in-crowd... :D 8)

I am not sure if I could date an Aspie just because I think it would be better to be with a person who complements. I want someone whose strengths are my weaknesses and I don't think I could get that from an Aspie. However, I am not ruling out the possibility.

Nope. Both of us being awkward has a nice balance.

I may have brought this up before.

Aspies generally get along well with animals and feel increased empathy towards them because we think visually like they do, while the NTs think verbally and via symbolics, the latter of which is one of the reasons why we may often feel detached from the NTs.

Similarly, we probably generally potentially (lol) would get along well with each other, with the encounter feeling more natural than it would with NTs. I have even heard a claim that Autists feel more empathy towards each other than the NTs feel towards each other.

Not that I had much of a personal experience from AS-AS encounters, even though I do have a couple of friends whom I suspect having AS, and with which I can get along naturally, and instinctively even avoid stuff such as eye contact most of the time without mentioning it.

When it comes to dating someone, in my opinion, you don't have to take into account whether they are ASD or NT.
Most people don't even know about the subtle differences (or know much, if anything, about autism) that comes with AS.
In the end, you are just looking for someone with good traits and characteristics.
Whether it be AS-AS or AS-NT, it could probably still easily work out if the proper traits were in place.

Not at all.

Someone who I could date, and would want to date me, would have to be weird. They could be NT or AS, but the weirdness is a must.

I wouldn't feel bad. It might work out quite well.

It's just the lottery of life.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.

Don't know unless you try.
