After a few dates you begin to suss which women are and aren't looking for a goodnight-goodnight kiss as opposed to a close mouthed kiss or nothing at all.
Every woman is different and will want different things. Much like us guys they have needs of their own! Instead of asking if kissing women in that way altogether is appropriate on a first date, it is better to figure out if the woman in front of you wants it as much as you do.

I think they'd prefer Australian kissing.

I think only if there is an emotional connection or they really very sexually attracted to the individual.

Sorry, but no. It has nothing to do with the kind of emotional connection and so on. Some like it, and some like it not. Anyway how deep the relationship is. So instead of asking other persons what other person want, you simply need to aks the question right in front of you.

Well, it certainly did for me; I can't be close to someone unless there is an emotional connection, and others may or may not be the same way. You can't generalize and say that everyone does it for the same reason.

Are you female? If so, that would be a generalized explanation. Women tend to attach emotional connections to anything remotely sexual, whereas it's much more purely physical for men - so men don't tend to have the same requirement of their being a deep personal emotional connection prior to engaging in anything sexual. Men tend to be a lot more like the Sloan lyrics, "If it feels good, do it.. even if you shouldn't," as it merely has to physically feel good, for the most part.

Wow. I've heard from numerous men that feel the same way I do. I'm not saying that everyone feels that way. When did I ever say that? I said that they may be sexually attracted and that can cause it just as much as being emotionally attached does. You're saying that men don't feel that way, and I've met men who do. That's all. I've met women who aren't emotionally connected that makeout with people. I was saying that *I* can only feel emotionally connected, not that everyone does it for the exact same reasons. Is this honestly worth arguing about?

Err but moving back to the more northerly type of kissing...judging by the responses so far, and logic, I don't think there's any kind of consensus on "how most women feel" about french kissing on a first date. And personally, there isn't any one feeling about it that I would apply to every first date, either. It depends on heaps of factors - how well the date is going, what my mood is, what I ultimately think I might want from the guy, where the date takes place, etc. etc.

But your post is really asking about whether a woman likes a man to be aggressive and french kiss her. My personal answer to that would be no, I wouldn't want that. If the date calls for it, I'd like the two of us to kiss each other. A man being aggressive towards a woman would have nothing to do with it and it would certainly turn me right off if that was the approach.

Is there really that much difference between a regular kiss and a french kiss though? I thought your standard (romantic) kiss was a french kiss? Or at least, the addition of some tongue action isn't really that much of a big deal if you are already locking lips...am I missing something?

So you like it under certain circumstances. As I said: Some do and some do not.

Some do - some don't. It also depends on the moment!

Give 'er a kiss if she seems interested in one... the longer the lingering embrace, the more likely she might like a little tongue with that kiss... just a touch. ;)

It's not a formula... merely odds. And pleasant pipe dreams. :P

So do you know how to ask without talking? For example, if you move in for a kiss and she doesnt turn her head, on the mouth is ok. So you lightly brush her lips with yours. She doesnt pull away. She may even open her mouth slightly, you lick her lips. She opens her mouth, its a go. If at any time she turns her head, that means no. If she pulls away, thats no.

IMHO.

I could be completely wrong, and i may not should have explained it.

I like a kiss to progress from closed mouths, then slightly open, then more open with a bit of tongue. Basically, it depends on how I feel as to how much of a kiss I would want from a man on the first date, but I would never want to feel like my mouth had had a wet hoover wrapped round my lips and an eel forced down my throat! But if the kiss is controlled enough, then you can stop at any point when/if you feel her start to pull away!

First and third girls I've kissed have gone French on the first kiss, or first few.
