Don't worry 18 is still a very young age. You'll probably find that university is a nice change from high school. Heck, I didn't have my first real boyfriend until I turned 18 years old and I'm on my sixth one now and I'm almost 27 years old. I've even been engaged for 4 years and broke it off. You still have tons of time, don't sweat it. Nothing good comes out of rushing things and I had low self-esteem at 18 too and I still do have low self-esteem but it's a lot better now than it was before.

OP, once you go into higher education and go to a couple of parties or join some clubs your life will change in terms of platonic relationships and dating.
From there you'll find love if that's what you want. As for people judging you and blaming you. I get that all the time. Only by accepting there's nothing I can do about it has helped me get over the most part.
It has helped me become happier with my situation. You can change your weight yes, but you can't stop people judging your appearance or blaming you for things. So focus on what you can change, and if you feel it's worth changing then do :)
