I'm nervous cheek chewer. People think I'm always grumpy. I also pick my skin (which gets embarrassing when it bleeds) and I pace like a nutcase when I'm deep in thought.

That's like the picture of me I was talking about. I chew my cheeks too. I tend to fill my cheeks with air as well if I'm thinking. Apparently I stick my tounge out when I'm thinking too. and I chew my bottom lip. I seem to have alot of mouth things going on.

Check to cheek chewer and bottom lip chewer. I do both of this almost incessantly! I often catch my reflection in the window of the Tube on my way to work and think I must look like a totally nutter to anyone looking at me :?

I move my hands involuntarily while I am visually-thinking about something, kinda of "typing on the air" hand movements. I do this a lot when I am alone and day dreaming, got caught few times and it was embarrassing.

^ZaphodsCloset your friend sounds like he may be putting people off unconsciously, is it possible to try and bring it to his attention? He may want to do something about it. Or he may be upset - you know him best, so do whatever seems right..

no NT would ever be interested in me, so this means, I will remain single forever.

You sure about that?
Maybe you just need a very particular type of NT. The stims you describe sound charming to me.

A few years ago, I was in a car accident that left me with a bad brain trauma. It's not the same as the stims you're talking about, but I have a lot of weird coping habits now. Yes, they're off-putting to *certain* men. But I don't want a completely run-of-the-mill guy anyway. Enter BF, who's high-empathy, has some social awkwardness but is really very mainstream. He doesn't view my oddities as a deficit. On the other hand, I had to wait a very, very long time to find him. And some things about him might have been off-putting to me before life hit re-set for me.

Strange, yes.

I'll shake and flap my hands, and twitch my fingers about like I'm doing "spirit fingers", except I could put the guy in the link to complete shame. Generally considered a lot more weird than creepy.

All fidgeting is stimming - definition of self soothing repetitive movement

Hehe, yea, whoever gets me will have to be a very particular type.

Sorry to hear about your accident but I am glad that you have recovered and found love. :)

I've got a host of 'em. Not even sure I know what they all are. The ones that other people have pointed out to me:

I rock slightly from side to side when I'm standing in one place.
I chew or bite the inside of my cheek or my lower lip.
I am constantly "feeling" the inside of my mouth with my tongue.
I jiggle my feet.
I cross my arms and squeeze my biceps.
Twirl my hair.
Bite my fingernails.

I twirl my hair too, but that's considered flirting by some people and none creepy.

I guess if a man was twirling his hair that might be strange.
