Does anyone want a partner with a life-long mental illness that can and probably would be passed on to their offspring?

No. Although it's a nice idea to entertain.

And of course you can't generalize, and pretend that any "group" is composed of people who are identical.

I think it depends on the woman's tastes.
My mother has told me she was attracted to my father because he looked serious, defenseless, an intellectual-like type.
But my father had had other relationships with other women before who liked him only because he was handsome and eventually broke up with him due to his AS and ADD traits.
So yeah it's all about the woman's tastes.

I don't know if I am attracted to AS types, I have not been in love with enough people yet, lol. But Andrew is mildly dyslexic (you would never guess unless he told you) and has dysthymia (which he can usually hide well, but will eventually come out no matter how hard he tries) and has no real autistic tendencies as far as I can tell and I like him.

Neurological disorder, not mental illness.

With groups like Autism Speaks insistenting on raising funds for research into "curing" autism, people will view it as Mental illness.

Women like it when you enjoy their company.

Can most women actually spot the aspieness in a guy when he's confident, has a sense of humour and doesn't take himself too seriously?

They never seem to notice in me until I tell them.

I've found that no one has ever been able to spot anything with me.

No one believes me when I tell them that I am HFA. They just stare at me with their mouths open in disbelief or say something like, "But you seem SO normal!" or "I NEVER woulda guessed!"

To which I respond, "If I seem normal to you, it's because you don't know me very well." And if they look insulted to that, I will follow up with a quick, "You're not around me 24/7. I stay to myself a lot so that I can do whatever weird quirks that I have in private, recharge my batteries so that I can go and be around people and appear to be of normal social functioning."

I'd find that hard to believe .
