I prefer hairless because in my opinion it shows the true beauty of her body not a mat of hair (which is rather masculine imo).

I don't see where you make the link to pedophilia since its not really about making the body look younger... after all, an adult female genitalia and hip area is very different from an undeveloped one.

Some women do manage to make a very short trimmed hair look which is quite sexy and aesthetically beautiful but honestly most don't bother just like men don't bother.

Overall its basically the same as to why women prefer to shave their armpits and legs... its all to look attractive. Personally I can't imagine a more horrible surprise to see a gorgeous girl with shaved legs and armpits pull her underwear down and reveal a duck-dynasty worthy crotch beard. 8O

Showing the true beauty of your body, by artificially giving it another look, then it truly looks like, sounds a bit weird to me. Like going into the park of castle Versailles, with all that horse-shaped bushes and ornamentic flowers arrangements, ... , and then mentioning to be truly admiring the true beauty of nature around you.

There is no way I'm getting ingrown hairs down there.Seems like too much effort to have a bald beaver.

I personally find the hairless trend rather disturbing. I find male body hair very masculine, and I love men with facial hair, preferably mustache AND beard.

For myself, shaving anything besides my legs and armpits is excruciatingly painful, if not during shaving, then afterward. My ex-husband wanted me to keep everything shaved, so I did for a couple of years. It never got any less painful; if anything, it became more so, since I was inflicting further damage to already damaged skin. After he "let" me stop, I swore I'd never do it again.

Lucky for me, most men my age don't like the hairless look.

I didn't bring up pedophilia, Cdn. Comedian Jonny Harris did. I just kind of agreed with him.
Anyway, I was asking mostly about bald bodied men. :D
Pubic hair is neither masculine nor feminine. It's just part of being an adult of either gender.
Trimming short is o.k., but hot wax & sharp stuff isn't really safe. Personal safety ought to be put ahead of fashion trends. (I've used hot was on my legs & got burnt. No Way I'd put it anywhere more sensitive.)
I don't think most women have a duck dynasty crotch beard. Women in general & women with lighter finer head hair have less in that dept. anyway.
Is stubble & ingrown hair pustules more appealing? I'd think that people would have to make with the depilatory @ least once a week to be 100% hair & stubble free-? That sounds like physical & financial torture.

this exactly

and the serious problem is that all of the process for hair removal end up in one way or another injuring the skin, which I find uncomfortable AND in the case of the genital area opens the person up to a higher possibility of catching anything that they may be exposed to.

I don't remove anything

Trends are just marketing. There's money to be made from people's insecurities. I'm sorry to see that men are being taken in the way women used to be to fashion trends. :(
I posted this after seeing an ad,. on T.V. for a men's shaver just for body shaving. Given the high price of normal razors, & blades, you have to ask how much more does this special one cost & how much more are the blades that go in it????

I agree with you GPAC! Injuries to the genital area take longer to heal because of the moistness & the very thin skin there.

Vaniqa doesn't aggravate my skin. A lot the side effects I read sound like they might could be allergic reactions & I take an antihistamine & another allergy med anyways. I did notice alittle dryness & it felt & maybe looked weird when I 1st started using it but I didn't get those effects for long. Ingrown hairs are a possibility but I never noticed em. Vaniqa doesn't remove the hair thou but rather changes it's growing cycle so it won't grow back as fast when it is removed so other hair removal methods have to be used which is why I need to shave about 1ce a week still but it's easier now because the hair is shorter than it used to be when I shaved just as often. Vaniqa is a very gradual thing but it wouldn't surprise me if I get to the point where I only need to shave every two weeks or much less. Having to apply it twice a day is kind of a pain & tedious but but shaving my face every week with longer hair is more problematic for me. I think other hair removal methods like laser, electrolysis or waxing used with Vaniqa would be a faster noticeable difference than shaving with it but I don't have the money for that & don't like the idea of someone else doing that to me. If I had money I could spare & didn't want other things I might would buy that Tria home laser thing to use on my body & limb hairs.

Hormones can effect hair growth too which is why the meds for male-pattern baldness I'm on reduce my body hair. I would NOT suggest other guys consider those meds unless it's for male-pattern baldness, because they want to lower their sex drive because it's too high or very problematic for them like it was for me, or if they're transgendered. Some hormonal birth-controls have hormones that could reduce body hair which may be something some women may want to factor in when choosing an option. There are hormone disorders/imbalances that can cause women to be excessively hairy one of em being hairsuitism.

Every hair removal option has some potential side-effects, pains, annoyances, &/or time consuming so it's a matter of weighting the pros & cons & deciding what to take a chance with if anything

this exactly

Like you, I've also read that the relatively recent Western obsession with hair body removal started because of porn. However, body hair removal per se is not a new idea at all. It was a part of many ancient cultures, such as ancient Egypt, where sugaring was popular.

Also, body hair removal has long been a religious requirement in the Muslim faith. Islam has been around for a pretty long time, so in Arab culture at least, body hair removal cannot be referred to as a recent or passing trend, but rather it's something that's been going on for centuries (or perhaps millenia? I'm not really sure how old Islam is exactly, nor am I sure how long the "fatwa" on hair removal has been in existence).

As to why some people like to remove body hair: shaved or waxed skin looks and feels cleaner than hairy skin. It also feels smoother to the touch. The skin is exposed, meaning you're able to stroke it. If it's covered in prickly hair, the genitalia of your partner doesn't feel nearly as nice to the touch.

That's entirely a matter of personal taste.

I second the thumbs-up to MissLizard!

Also, my hypersensitivities absolutely can NOT handle stubble, razor burn, or razor bumps. It drives me stark staring mad to have any of those things going on down there. :?

I spent mt teenage and most of my young adult years very seldom shaving. My legs, obviously... I just plain hated it, having to apply shaving foam all over and nicking myself in various places no matter how careful I was. I have dark, thick hair and fair skin, so when it grows it's very noticable and in the summer that would make me feel very self-conscious. But now I shave my legs and under my arms every second day because I now find having rough, course hair like a gorilla on them even worse than shaving. It's really embarrassing but I have had facial hair problems since I was in my early teens - I still remember my brother being a jerk and telling me I was growing a mustache. I know North American society is a lot more hair-aphobic than other places like in Europe, but I still want to have smooth skin and it's one of the few things that makes me feel like an actual female. Fake fingernails on the other hand look...fake. And nasty, like something out of a vampire b-movie. The only reason I'd wear them would be because it would make it easier to pick the seeds out of my watermelon like Elizabeth in For Bettor Or Worse.
