So we have had several of this threads over time but I dont think we have had any of them recently and I needed an excuse to promote the new guidelines in case anyone missed them.

What are the new guidelines? I missed them and can't find them anywhere.

There was an announcement yesterday about being bought over by okcupid/ renaming this section to okcupid and requiring all threads to have an [okcupid] tag at the beginning of the title.

This was the first thread to use said tags.

Announcement appears to have gone missing today so I updated the thread title

Yesterday was aprils fools.

OkCupid has nothing to do with this website.

It just happens to be the main dating site members talk about so I thought it was fitting.

Some users were less than pleased with the joke as you can see at the beginning of this thread

I am going to contact Okcupid's founders and give them the idea of buying WP, after all it's the weirdos' dating site.

yeah - I don't lie, and I posted on my facebook just to remind people not to share that kind of crap with me. Told them they would be unfriended and blocked - called it the worst "holiday" ever invented

When I was single I tried lots of dating sites & messaged women I thought I'd might be compatible with but only like 5% bothered to reply & they all quit replying after a couple messages. I used forums on dating sites too. I tried asking out women I liked at work but they all rejected me; one made things difficult for me till she quit. There weren't many places in my area to meet women & I needed my parents to bring me everywhere sense I couldn't drive & there wasn't much of a bus service & where I lived was a small unheard of town in between two cities & I would of had to walk on side a busy highway with no sidewalks for a few miles to get to anything besides houses, sugar-cane fields, schools, church or gas stations. The 3 girlfriends I had I met on forums by posting aLOT bout things. My current & my 2nd I met on WP & my 1st I met on Comedy Central's forums 11 years ago when they had forums.

POF is really horrible and full of lies. I'm 27 and I had a profile for 3 or 4 months. The problem for me personally would be the quality of the women. I met up with about 5 women and only one looked like her pictures. Most were WAY off. The one that did was from a small nearby town and I could tell she wanted to be "chased". Chasing requires sooo much effort on my part. I lost interest at the thought of it and stopped communicating with her. After that I promptly deleted my profile. Mostly my POF experience just ended up being a giant waste of time that could have been better spent reading, watching Star Trek or working out.
I might pick a higher quality (pay membership) dating site in the future with more professionals but my future plan is to just try to "get out" more after my professional license exam this summer.

A male must be super active on a dating site to get some results (and he has to appear attractive, toned and good-looking to get any chance); exactly like the job-seeker using job boards; for example if you receive a message on okc, the faster you reply the more likely you'll catch a conversation with her. I knew some said earlier that replying quickly might make you look desperate for a message but if you don't reply fast enough she'll receive a pile of messages in the next day and forget you even exist; you could include in your reply "Hi, I just logged here ...etc"; use the phone app to appear less glued to it.

All in all, they suck.

My motivation hasn't always been really high when it comes being actively seeking someone because I lack the confidence and self-esteem and fear of giving off the creep vibe so I don't bother.

I don't feel like anyone would want to be with me so I don't bother trying for relationships.

I did join okcupid to see if there were anyone who seemed similar to me but there was only one person.

I would have been happy to be her friend but no replies, I was kinda hoping she was lonely and didn't have much of a social life either or any at all lol....
I'd have thought someone a high 90s match with me would have just as crap a life but I guess you never know what people are really like until you meet.

But I don't particularly care about being in a relationship, It was great being married and having someone around the house but I don't get depressed over being single.

I guess I've just accepted I'll probably be single for the rest of my life.
It's just something that comes with autism to me now, like one of the traits, not everyone has this one but a lot likely do.

I wish more people went online just to make friends rather than only dating. (yes I know about match or whatever it's called but it's rubbish for the city I live in)

The few people I know don't have many friends and they are completely normal, It's like once people get to there late 20's they stop making new friends entirely and stick with what they know.

Two reasons come to mind for me being single. Children, and herpes. Neither of which I have.

Most of the women in my area are young moms and it's quite disturbing to say the least.

When I go to other cities in my region I start flirting with single (no kids) ladies.
