Why do American men have it so bad in America?

Exactly, very shallow indeed. I never judge people by their appearance. Besides, slim women simply cannot be trusted.
Joke? I hope. Or else the contradictory statement of the week.

Why should men who live in America who prefer skinny girls be shafted for being "mad" about obese women? Why is it fair that these men where migration isn't practical should have to choose between settling with obesity or staying single for life because the obese population, especially women, are tipping the scales? Do you think obese women are going to take over America? I'm flexible about weight in a partner, but I would never long for the day when all skinny or even average women disappear from the world, or at least in America.
I use to believe that the government should stay out of our food cabinets, but now I'm losing faith.

I do not believe men in America are getting shafted by a real or imagined epidemic of obese women -- given that 1/3 of American women AND men are obese, a non-obese man who prefers not to date obese women has the remaining 2/3 of American women (the non-obese ones) to choose from.
If a man can't find a date among 2/3 of the American female population? It isn't due to a lack of options!

You don't.
The fact that you even think that the existence of fat women is something to be mad about just shows how damn good you have things.
This sums up the thread perfectly. Someone edit this reply into the OP and close the thread.

This.
If you're judging someone only by their weight / appearance and not their personality, you're pretty damn shallow.
Not to sound rude, but if that is the case for you wanting a relationship (solely based on appearance), then it's not surprising you don't have one.
I'd judge them on all of the above - it's about the whole of attraction, not just aesthetic or personality - but everything. I don't find it shallow for someone who's sexually attracted to skinny people to be turned off by overweight people. There are others who are specifically attracted to overweight people - let them connect with each other. Everyone likes what they like and can't help whatever it is they're attracted to. Kind of a bit of a rude assumption to call people shallow for having specific aesthetic criteria they're into.

I think it's unreasonable to expect something of a partner that you're unwilling to do yourself -- so, if you're a super-fit gym rat, expecting to date only super-fit hottie girls is reasonable.
A shlub who expects to date only super-fit hotties? Isn't reasonable and, unless he's really lucky or has a super-duper great personality, is unlikely to get many (or, frankly any) dates with super-fit hotties!
So, Mr. Turned Off By Non-Skinny Girls, are you at least as fit as the girls you're trying (and clearly failing) to get to date you?

In general, I agree with you on this in almost all instances. People typically have to be of similar fitness levels to those they want to attract - it helps in terms of matching active lifestyles, too, vs. just body types.
A "shlub" could date super-fit hotties.. especially if he had a lot of money. The other possibility is that a super-fit hottie is attracted to "shrubs" and finds him. Stranger things have happened.
I'm in pretty good shape right now @ 6'2" ~200lbs ~13%bf or so, fairly strong, w/ my cardio decent enough that I could stop whatever I'm doing and jog 10 miles at pretty much any moment. However, I'm gay, so I couldn't care less about trying to date anyone but non-skinny girls. I don't have too much difficulty attracting fit/slim/athletic boys, though. For the sake of this thread, yes, in general, the fitter I am the easier it is to attract others who are also fit.
