My Mother used to tell me i was attractive when i was growing up (still does), but she also told me i was normal (still does).... so i guess i cant count her judgement as credible evidence...

ive heard all the ways girls say no to a guy, here is some of my favorates -:

"I would, but i dont date ugly people"

"I'd rather become a lesbian"

"i would have dated you, but we have been friends for too long, i wouldnt want to ruin our friendship"

"i dont want to deprive your soulmate of the love of her life"

my No.1 tho, is -: "Sorry, im an Undercover Nun"

never actually had anyone express an interest, i'd give up if it wasnt for the fact that i can't - my heart wont let me..... stubborn heart :?

I feel that I am average or below average, but not ugly. This is after many people convinced me that I am normal looking.

From your picture, it's clear you're not ugly (and yeah, I voted squimish on your other poll - I forget how being silly can hurt sometimes).

well this is the tragic thing (not that im saying you are), men seem to find me attractive - the amount of times men have hit on me... and umm...insisted (its just as well i know several Martial arts).

anyhoo, i have yet to find an unattached, woman of a similar age as me (24 now) who has been willing to say im attractive.

i guess it begs the question, what is attractive? what we think? what others think? or what the people we want to fancy us think? hmmmm...

Looks are so unimportant and stupid to waste time on.

LOL, ask any woman if they'd date or marry an Ugly bloke (with no money or any other benefits)

Wow lot of people here with low self esteem about their looks. I don't think I'm ugly. I been told I'm very pretty but I used to think I was ugly. Sometimes I feel ugly because of my facial hair above my lips and pimples I get sometimes.

when i was young... i had big hoot-owl glasses, pimples (i've been on Acutane 3 times!), jacked-up-teeth... the whole 9 yards... (i also thought that my hair was clean when it felt oh-so-silky-smooth after putting conditioner in it and iso i never washed it out.. never occured to me that THAT was why my hair was so greasy... yes, i had to be shown how to wash my hair, lol)... and i felt really ugly and was told so by many people. i'm actually starting to think that this is what "hid" my (probable) aspie traits and left me clueless as to the true nature of my solitude...

once i got to highschool... people changed their toon... but i never have. my early trauma + some a-hole men have pretty much laid the framework for what i see in the mirror.

but as someone mentioned... it does depend on what mood i'm in.

Right. But the point that I'm making is that it's not your physical appearance that is keeping them at bay. Guys who are downright unattractive get some fairly decent looking girls(how this infuriates me). I don't have a lot of luck here either (though I often have girls initially attracted to me - but that's because I do look very odd, and dress to match it), and I can assure you that my looks aren't a hindrence (my ego, on the other hand).

I guess my problem is that without emperical evidence that women find me attractive, i logically assume im ugly.

but i see what you mean, i have seen people i thought were MUCH uglier than me date beautiful women.... my logical assumption to this is that i must be even uglier than them... i cannot work it out

Two birds are better than a hand in the bush any day.

Other benefits? Like they find the personality appealing? Look, we have to face that most of the women who might find us attractive are just the ones who are so shy as to not be as agressive
as we need. Unless you are so supremely vain that they come to YOU, it's not going to work (and it doesn't even work for me - I drive them away somehow anyway).

Feel? Hell, I know I'm ugly. I get reminded of this practically every day.

Ever think you might be wrong? You're not in the most objective position you know. I used to think that I must be unattractive. I'm making up for that now.
