Haven't you noticed that women ignored your thread completely?

lol

I even doubt you would apply this idealism toward the men you like in your life.

Last time I recall, you followed your hypergamous instinct.

What do you think that means?

No, but you can't expect the rest of the world to care. Remember: laugh and the world will laugh with you; weep and the world will laugh at you.

In another thread it was presented that women are valued for their provision of pleasure and reproductive ability, and men for their accomplishments. These things are probably all true for both genders. But I think that men have more to offer than just that. Companionship, human touch, shared experience are not without value.
The problem with marriage is that at it's heart it is a financial union; it commercializes love. As divorce has become more common than successful marriage, I think society has to reevaluate the promotion of marriage. It is an archaic artifice and it messes with people's lives.
If people accept that relationships are not forever and take the financial union out of it, then people could just chill out and stop chasing this illusion. And men could stop feeling that they're about to be exploited, which often happens.

Agreed.

Women would oppose the most to your suggestion of taking the financial union out of marriage.

They would put you at a stake and cheer your burning among a hysteric crowd.

Not ALL women. Money isn't everything, and I can make my own. I don't need to rely on a man to provide me with money.

Just because you can make your own money doesn't mean how much a potential partner makes is not important, as some women have recently elaborated :)

Seldom will you find men arguing along those lines.

yes so many women say they make their own but still epect guy to earn ____.
some will say its they want a guy to be able to povide for them if they quit their job
or if they hav kids and decidd to be a stay at home for a while.
think for most its not letting go of past traditions. even though with feminism. they are mostly equal int eh workplace.(white color jobs excluded)

its why the women at my job work the same job I do. yet they look down on me for working it. they complain about men who work such low paying jobs. so they expect their guys to earn more than them. but why.

yes but we can do lots of things. but we don't. sure theres laws. but realitisyt I can go rob my neibhors house. I don't because its not right to do so. only bullies and criminals use that excuse

real situation that happen. there was a guy who stabbed random people while he was walking around. when they asked him why he did it. he simply said because I can. I don't get people like that. he had no motivation no reasoning, he simple stabbed those people because he could. that's the reality of life how at risk we are, fact is anyone could do what he does. we don't walk around with suits of armor on lol. but most people don't do things just because they can. that's why there are criminals and the rest of us. criminals do stuff because they can. rest of us respect others and resist such temptations.

Yes, but, to be fair, I didn't notice this topic before.

Also, I barely count as a woman, so my opinion doesn't mean much.......

I almost took him seriously then read the last sentence posted, and realized this is more based off his fear of an unsuccessful marriage rather than an actual valid statement about marriage.

Don't get me wrong, divorce is an epidemic and something needs to be done, throwing away the american dream and saying everyone should forfeit monogamy is not the answer. I for one still hope to have those things some day.

The gender roled ideas of marriage are incredibly outdated, too. Men aren't always - and don't even have to be the breadwinners in the family. I know married couples completely content living in their crappy 1 bedroom apartment, and I know other married couples who don't desire children. It's about 2 people who love each other hoping to spend the rest of their life together. And while it may be difficult in this day and age, it's not worth abandoning the idea over it.

Yeah, but if I make my own money, why does it matter what job partner/lover has?
