I haven't had contact with them in several months or even over a year.... they stopped answering my calls, since I was calling them every day, they live all the way in Turkey, and I haven't been to Turkey in 2 1/2 years, and even if I did see them, they're so religious they wouldn't talk about crushes unless they're getting ready to look for a marriage partner... ideally... also, my dad forbade me from calling them since I was harassing them by calling them several times every day....

Poutine, I've learned from my mistakes..... and besides, only on my worst weeks I was calling them every day, I usually went long periods of time without calling them...

really, you serious? you mean even if I stopped having contact with them, I can't date them when them and I are adults, getting ready for marriage/courtship?

Maybe when you're an adult.

The first-cousin thing still leaves an uneasy feeling, though.

When I was 10, I had a crush on a third cousin who was 14. I went to her house, and we swung on a romantic swing. I felt sort of guilty even then.

You would have some serious family problems if a relationship with a first cousin went sour. I wouldn't consider it.

In the U.S., it varies by state. In some states it's illegal to marry a first cousin. In others, you must have genetic counseling before marriage. There's an increased risk that any children you have together will have birth defects.
I'm sure you can Google it and see what can happen. Biology says it's incest.
