I'm going to be honest. As a woman, I don't like it when a man (or anyone) stares at me, because it makes me feel like they either have malicious intentions, or that I'm doing something awkward that's getting peoples' attention.

Try to stop staring at people...it will only get you in trouble.

Especially in a bar/pub venue--where you have drunk people who would get into a fight at a moment's notice.

Oh. Em. Gee. Women not liking being stared at, how freakishly bizarre. Of course it's only because all of us women are completely evil and insane, and definitely not because some guy we don't even know staring at us is making us feel uncomfortable or even threatened. (brutal sarcasm)

Women do not exist to be stared at.. Staring is rude.

However, some women do choose to engage in activities that encourage staring.

So, if you want to stare at women, go to a strip club. Just be sure to bring enough cash to handle the cover charge, the drink minimum, the lap-dance fees, and the tips.

Because it's rude, creepy and unsettling.

Because it makes girls uncomfortable and unlikely to react to you in a positive, hell, a neutral manner!

I wouldn't like it if a woman stared at me like crazy. Someone eyeing me up as a precursor to approaching me and talking to me - it's never happened, but I'd probably be flattered.

A woman who just stared and stared and stared...[shudders]

LOL ... too funny.

Frankly I think guys would be even more creeped out by another guy staring at them, than women are.

Unless the guys being stared at are gay and cruising, maybe ...

I guess for me it would depend on the kind of stare. If she looks like she's staring because she's interested in me I wouldn't mind, but otherwise I would feel uncomfortable. With guys I wouldn't like it in any case.

I think IN GENERAL people don't mind being stared at if it's done by someone they like or find attractive. But it also depends on the kind of stare because if they laugh while doing it I doubt anyone would find it enjoyable.

Well for me if I see a girl I like the look of it just natural for me to glance at her if I see her in a pub or venue

That's just me though. But I think girls don't like guys looking at them as much because they dislike men in general

Oh for Heaven's sake ... really?

Women don't like being stared at because they don't like men? I think you're taking a huge leap and you have no evidence.

Just don't stare at people. It's rude.

It depends on the woman and what kind of man she likes. It also depends on the man and whether or not he appears likeable.

Some women may dislike men in general; but there are likely valid reasons for that. Some men may not be generally likeable (or may even be repulsive), and such men would do well to examine their own appearances and behaviors.

Yes, that's a glance. If I see any sight that catches my attention I find myself returning for a second or third glance. I think that's pretty much how humans work.

And, again, a glance. Momentary. Brief. Not to be confused with staring for, as you put it, 'too long'.

That last line is so much BS.

People in general don't like people staring at them. Women in particular have good reason to be concerned about men in particular staring at them.

The analogy doesn't quite work, but still: I like dogs. I get worried if a dog just stares and stares at me.

Jamesy, seriously - do not stare at people. It is unpleasant for the person being stared at, and you're likely to get yourself into trouble.

In some places esspecially in bad neighborhoods you stare at someone long enough, your likely to get shot or jumped.
