There are waxing kits designed to do a woman's bikini line that are not expensive. The wax comes in a jar, which is then heated and then a stick is used to apply the wax. Cloth strips are put over the wax and it's yanked off.

I used it for a brief time before I found better methods. But I think it would work well on the back area. And hurt much less than it does when used for the intended area.

I shaved my legs for many years, but I started to feel guilty about the disposable razor blades and also shaving daily (or close to it) is a pain in the butt. So, I decided to switch to waxing and I'm very glad I did--you have to do it waaaaaaaaaaaay less frequently than you do if you shave, and there is less waste. I use a sugar-based product (ingredients are sugar, glycerine, chamomile extract, and citric acid) and unbleached muslin cotton strips (that i cut from a roll that I buy bulk to save money) that I wash and reuse. Considering how expensive disposable razor blades have gotten, I end up spending much less on waxing per year than I ever did on shaving.

My friend lives in a different country and we aren't that close friends.

I have no one to do it however. I mean, my family are kind of conservative and would laugh at the idea of this in the first place. And besides I am moving to Spain soon so...

I guess I could try this mangroomer razor product - it's an electric razor with a big extendible hook, the only thing is apparently it doesn't work so well on really hair backs but perhaps I could try to trim it first.

I think an epilator would be a much cleaner method. You just need something on the floor to pick up the hair.

I did use wax strips once.

I realise this, and whilst I am not underestimating the pain/effort involved, I would add that the back is not something you can just easily do yourself. It also seems kind of unfair comparison because it's not as if the majority of women born with naturally unhairy legs and there are just these few who have to go through great expense and pain to somehow have a chance of not being single.

Hmm...There ought to be someone willing to wax your back for you. Ask your mom to do it.

I wouldn't worry about it until you actually start dating someone. You're just going to dwell on it and feel bad about yourself.

She would definitely not do it. And I'll be in a different country in a few weeks anyway.

I guess you're right. It does seem kind of pointless unless I'm doing that. Truthfully it just feels like yet another task that has been added on a enormous checklist of things that I have to do to even stand a remote chance of getting a girlfriend.

I guess if you're dating someone you only have to use it around the times you are actually seeing them, so I suppose it's not a huge commitment and is probably the most efficient cost/time way of doing it, given apart from very specific circumstances it is not visible.

The MANGROOMER is on Amazon for only $42! And it's getting a 5/5 star rating!

Does anyone else think it's odd the way that society feels about how our bodies naturally look? We'd probably all feel very different about body hair if it weren't expected of everyone to remove so much of it.

Plus it tends to change over time.. Such as beards being in style, then out of style and back in again... And pubic hair.. Some people have very strong opinions on whether it should be shaved, trimmed, or a full bush..

I do understand the dating difficulties and I can understand wanting to be more desirable.. But the entire concept seems silly to me.. It's just hair. I don't get why so many people care so much.

This is almost exactly how I feel. And to be quite honest I don't find woman with hairy legs/armpits unattractive at all, in fact the whole thing has become so taboo there is almost a guilty pleasure in liking it.

But then, I have never really got anywhere in dating so my opinion is sort of null and void.

I care because I am weird. It has little to do with society's expectations. I hate the way body hair feels. And I think body hair holds in bad smells.

This most likely has to do with my tactile and olfactory sensitivities.

Hm.. I'm not sure about bad smells... I think that has more to do with bathing, which some people need to wash more than others, I guess because of body chemistry. If I don't shower twice a day, those around me will suffer. But others seem fine with once a day.

I also don't mind women with body hair. I had feelings for a girl with hairy legs and armpits for awhile. She was cute, to me.

I've also had people tell me that they wished I had more, when I don't like having it. I just don't like how it feels to have it and prefer my own body without it. I don't like people telling me what I should do with my body to be more attractive for them. It isn't my job to be attractive for them. If they don't want me as I am, then they don't need to have me. And that's one lesson that I spent years learning the hard way. There's no going back to that now.
