Call me close-minded, but I would NEVER be in a relationship with someone who was religious. They'd have to be atheist like me.

I doubt I would but I want to know what other people think about this.

Well, they best relationship I've had was with a Jewish girl. She and her whole family new I was an atheist, but they loved me anyway. Her mother loved me because I'm a welder, and she was a metal sculptor, so I was able to help her with her artwork many times. Her step-father is a big cigar smoker, as am I. Her step-brother has HFA, and I was able to help bring him out of his shell a little bit, and he was a car-guy like myself. We only broke up because she lived too far away, and with her in highschool, and me in college, our schedules never worked out (Just so you know, I am 18, and she just turned 17 three months ago, so nothing creepy). We are still very good friends, and we try to hang out every once in a great while.

Yay xmas present for you!

Yay! :jester:

And I agree with what Starbuline said.
I don't think I could ever put up with someone who wasn't atheist.
I'd probably get pissed off with them all the time and constantly start arguments with them about everything.

I wouldn't have a problem with dating someone with different beliefs, as long as I wasn't required to convert to her faith unless I wanted to.

I have no problem if they believe or if they don't believe.

heh. i dated a mormon for about a month first semester. I almost considered converting to mormonism, just because it sounds like a cool thing....even though its a cult minded religion(and no offense meant to any mormons here on the boards)

I wouldn't mind as long as their beliefs weren't ridiculously stupid.

I see no logical basis for either religion or atheism, but can get along pretty well with anyone who has similar values.

If a person has different values, I don't care what their beliefs are, it's not going to work.

If it meant dating a woman who could choke me with the Force every time we had a tiff, I'll pass, thanks. No amount of hotness is worth that.

That sounds hot, in and of itself.

Religion and spiritual belief is just one facet of humanity’s illogical and irrational mind state. There’s something illogical and irrational about everyone, so I don’t care what’s illogical and irrational about you as long as it stays in words.

OOOkay. in other words, what you're saying is that humanity in and of itself is illogical so it should just go jump off a cliff.

What cliff?

I said that you can think and say whatever you want; just don't force me to think and say said things against my will..., otherwise we won't get along well at all (this is where cliffs enter the picture).

There are lots of beautiful irrational
things, which one might not want to
see destroyed.
