Why ask so many questions when you may have the answer?

Because I don't get what real love has to do with a commitment the way you sayd. I think that you see the commitment more as an ensurance. But the initial party can also start without to marry each other what only causes trouble as soon as you start to hate each other. I just getting a divorce and don't see to marry positive as long as an divorce requires more than a 'Good buy!' as the marriage requires only a 'Yes!'. Once they are married many people stop to care about each other and themself as they should just because they are married then and are to sure that the other has to stay with them anyway. And because of this the love goes away. Because of this I see a marriage rather as a love killer. Being together without really loving each other anymore - who wants this?

And tgats why she wants good role models who are happily married.

I know people who are happily married. I also know those who are not. And I think the common theme with those who are not is that they got married too young.

I think real love requires passion, and keeping the passion alive is a lot harder than just staying together, married or not. I think the problem lies in dating and not having a proper courtship. Ideally, NDs should court each other at a distance for years before getting together.

Also, real love doesn't require verbal commitment or any other verbal agreements. It's non-expecting and non-selfish. You love somebody regardless of what you can get out of it.

i would just say get to know as many people as possible and take things slowly.

it takes some time to learn a person's character; there's no real shortcut that i know of.

good luck!
