She was probably drunk....and her friend was protecting her (not from you, but from any man).

Bars are just ridiculous places to go to. Ridiculous things tend to happen in bars.

That's actually an excellent idea!
Especially if you're into art or yoga yourself.

I starting taking a Yoga class in 2006. People wanted to drink a cup of tea together at the nearest cafe. Soon after, we all had Pizza together. There were 3 guys and around 8 women in the group and it was easy to make friends. In most bars the ratio is the opposite.
I don't suppose that it would appeal to everyone but there's a structure to work with and conmon ground, you go for a drink and talk about the class.
