On a medical level it’s better NOT to wear glasses so that your vision doesn’t deteriorate as fast, or even improves if you are lucky.
The purpose of glasses is not medical. Rather it’s social: it’s making sure you don’t miss anything in your lectures and people don’t get pissed at you for not recognizing them. My advice is wear glasses only when you absolutely must.

Judging people based on glasses is shallow either way. Regardless of what direction you do it at.
But whoever thinks it makes them look smart, there are always clear glasses, the ones that don’t have a correction. I suggest wear those.
By the way the whole “looking smart” vs “looking ugly” business can be made irrelevant by the following argument. Whoever thinks glasses make them look smart, can always wear clear glasses. Whoever thinks glasses make them look ugly can always wear contacts. So basically, regardless of whether you have correction or not, you can make your outside look whatever you want it to be.
My recommendation is avoid correction because it’s better for your eyes that way.
