One of the big advantages of just
blurting it all out, is that it's over.
Can't say that's what one hopes
for, but one way or another, it's
done.

I never said I was obsessed with someone!
I just feel emotionally attracted to someone who has always been 'just a friend' until now, and I'm concerned that it might alter my behaviour around them, so I want to be rid of it!

How can one not be EMOTIONALLY attracted
to a friend? Isn't that just an acquaintance then?
Even my mere buddies I feel some emotional
connection to.

...Hence my choice of words. I have an emotional connection to my close friends, but not an *attraction* to them. They're there, and that matters (I suppose), but I don't feel drawn to them on an emotional level. They're simply there.

To me, I would say an attraction is
merely the prelude to a connection.

Apparently you use the word differently to me.
Anyway, I seem to remember asking for advice on my situation, not my English.

Damned hard to give advice,
when we have different meanings
to words. Rather like if we renamed
all the colors.

I'm trying to pin down just what you're
actually feeling. It's not physical (or
you'd have used that and not emotional).
It's somehow STRONGER than a connection.
I'd be tempted to call it love, but 'attraction'
seems so terribly weak comparatively. But,
if 'tis love, you're doomed. Obsession might
well follow.

I wouldn't go so far as to say love, certainly. Trying to think of a better word... a crush, maybe? Although I've always thought of a crush as being a trivial thing with its roots in physical attraction, rather than emotional... but I suppose it's the closest word I can think of right now. Tired, brain not work. Been up all night with one of my housemates making our halloween party invites and generally mucking around.

Inappropriate though.
Damn. That kinda kills the
revealing, in most cases
(though not always - if the
comfort is enough).

Ah well, I'll keep thinking.

 I'll work on that! And I'll try and fall for someone more appropriate... Maybe I should just try and become a narcissist, that'd be much simpler :P

Nah. A narcissist doesn't help (trust me).
Then you'll just not see things as inappropriate
any longer.

Curses, there's never an easy way out.
I'd better call it a night - I'm so tired that I just put toothpaste on my razor instead of my toothbrush. Good thing I noticed my mistake, or that could've been rather painful. Ta ta for now.

I used to develop crushes on the strangest men. I had a crush on a married man who was in my college class, at the age of ninteen. I've also had a crush on a middle aged man, six years ago, at the age of 26. Why can't I have a crush on somebody my own age, for a change?
