How do u tell if ur just obsessed or in love with someone?

Judging from personal experience, obsession and love go hand in hand. An aspie, like me, can't have one without the other. If I'm in love with someone, it consumes me. With love, comes obsession. If you're not obsessed with someone, chances are that you're not in love with them.

if i had to explain it i would say that obsession does not bring out the best in you or really make you happy. it's not far from an addiction and when you are addicted you're first concern, whether you know it or not, is staving off the withdrawal.

i can tell the difference between that and love because i was obsessed with two different people in the past. the feeling of desperation for that other person was overwhelming. the last one wore me out.

thankfully i don't feel that way anymore. i've fallen in and out of love since that last time, sometimes it was reciprocated, sometimes not, sometimes i simply kept my feelings to myself. but i could tell it was not obsession.

this saying is trite but it's full of truth - if you love somebody, set them free. if they don't return, they were never yours in the first place.
