Well I'd love to have a GF who shares these interests.

Okay, from what I know, there are three options for finding otaku females.

1. The anime club. This would probably be the best bet. A regualr meeting of the same people. Gives you time to build up on friendships and reach a relationship. Only problem is, you may not have one in your area.

2. Conventions. Yes, there will be lots of females at conventions... However, chances are going to be slim you can hook up with someone there. From my experience at conventions... Females are rarely going to be on their own, most are going to be there with their BF, or GF(for the lesbian ones). At most you could probably make some friends if you're socially competent enough but I wouldn't count on making an otaku GF at a con.

3. The internet. Lots of places on the net where otaku congregate. Join a place and take part, talk, share... maybe you'll get lucky and make good friends with a female and maybe lead to more...

There was a whole thread on this subject at the Otakon boards and the above was the general consensus before the thread got locked.
There sort of is an otaku dating site... otakubooty.com. But to me, it looks more like a general social networking site that a dating site. :?

I met the man I love when we worked together at Gamestop. First hookup was while watching "Urusei Yatsura"(AWESOME anime from the 80s). We've gone to two conventions together, and when we move in together next year, there will be a "gaming room"(thanks to cheap rents where I live) to house his Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, XBox, Wii and PS3, along with my NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS2 and XBox360.
Definitely look for someone who shares your same interests. You can be all obsessive and nerdy and your partner will love you for it. I speak from experience. :D

Wow those are the only chices, I'm either a fanboy or I'm weird. I notices that many people into anime often have other compatible personalitiy traits that line up with mine. It's not about narrowing my search, it's about finding a compatble one. I'd rather take longer to find the perfect person then settle for someone, who at best may not understand, and at worse will try to change this. I just need to find one person for me, not a ton.

You don't agree that it would be a really weird prerequisite to want an anime fangirl if you didn't watch the stuff yourself?

Really? Weak. I've never signed up, I just remember the ad being on the side of SomethingPositive.com a while back.

Heh... yeah I signed up for too a couple days ago...

Have to pay to really do anything on there.
I think all you can do without paying is look, read the forum, and send one-liners. :?

Yes, I mentioned ealier Archon, which serves the midwest and was in Missouri, and now in Illionos, but it only happnes once a year, for three days. Three days a year dosnt sound like a good way to search, I'll use it, just the odds I find a single person there, that likes me, and doesn't live to far in the wrong direction, seems remote.

Well, I always assumed that anime fangirls were like the "untouchables" of the dating realm... But maybe that's because on GaiaOnline, people in the other boards (notably General Discussion) made it sound like if you liked even one anime, ate Pocky or used the word "kawaii" at any time, you were a failure, weren't going to get a boyfriend and needed to be killed.

It's thanks to a few batty fangirls that people assume that. I've met the hentai-drawing, mood-swings and unhealthily obsessed fangirls. They give the more chill fangirls like myself a bad name.

It's a pity that I never really got into Anime... I might have had a better chance of finding someone. It seems like everyone else is into Anime these days.

I hear you. I'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything, but I'm one of those fangirls who keeps it to myself. I just assumed that the few batsh*t insane fangirls ruined the chances of a relatively sane fangirl such as us the opportunity to have a boyfriend.

I mean, everybody in my house knows how much I love Hellsing and Trinity Blood, and that I admire Japanese people and their culture; but beyond that, it's not readily apparent that I'm an anime fan. In fact, I was actually pretty embarrassed when my mom bought me an "I [heart] Anime" T-shirt and I'm a little relieved that it shrunk in the wash and doesn't fit me anymore. Also, I get very, very embarrassed when I go out to buy anime DVDs. I try to make it as quick and painless as possible; learning the release dates ahead of time so I can run in, pay for my copy, and run out.

Maybe it could also be the area you live in IdahoRose... I know up around those parts is kind of the wilderness.
Around where I'm at, anime fangirls are kind of common in HS so it's not a big deal.

Lol. Today, I was wearing an Inuyasha T-shirt while my boyfriend wore a Eureka 7 shirt. And the girls I've mentioned definitely showed their emotional problems. Just don't act all high-strung like they constantly do, and you'll do fine...well, as long as you're not in high school. People in high school love to attack people they notice having too much of an interest in something. They stop caring once they graduate and the social hierarchy collapses around them.
