EDIT: Damn, I normally don't sound like such an as*hole... I apologize in advance readers, but the OP asked for my opinion - and I don't sugarcoat anything.

With all-due respect, the way in which you have neutered the serious health risks of being obese (not just overweight, there actually IS a difference) is ignorance which probably stems from a rationalization you have created to deal with either your own or a family member's obesity. Ignorance is not an effective substitute for knowledge, though it's a very effective comforting mechanism. Also, you don't just become obese one day, and you don't have to buy into diet programs and other misc crap. Eat less, exercise more, and you will lose weight - but some people have more important priorities than losing weight, such as indulging in instant gratification and being lazy (two things I am in fact guilty of as well). Before you say anything I recognize there are thyroid and other problems that can actually cause obesity, I'm not ignorant of those and people with those problems are exempt from my rant.

Having ranted on that (and probably about to get flamed), obesity is not by any means normal or natural. Obesity in general is the consequence of eating more calories and than you burn, therefore being stored in fat. Throughout history obesity was a sign of wealth because it was only the rich that had enough food to indulge in. Only recently with agricultural technology and food extremely dense with fats and calories (which are tasty) have we seen the general population become obese. The ONLY way in which it is normal by ANY standard is by looking at today as if it was the only day.

Obesity is unhealthy in so many ways and in general the result of indulgence and laziness. If I offend you or make you sad by saying this, that is your problem for hiding from the truth.

That being said, I enjoy a woman with curves (average to very mildly overweight), but prefer skinny girls (I myself am skinny). Obese is a simple no-no, I absolutely will not be with her in a romantic or sexual way as I find it appaling that someone would let themselves go that far.

Half the article is true, a third of it is misconstruing and manipulating language to change your perception of a "fact", and a sixth of the article is lies.

For example, the buying-into and subsequent failure of nearly all diet programs is the failing of the companies, whereas the need to buy into diet programs instead of limiting oneself and exercising is the failure of the fat person.

And what the hell is with these arguments from popularity? Because 120 million Americans are overweight, that makes it okay? That makes less sense than believing in god for the sole reason that 5 billion people happen to believe in some form of god or gods.

The way that the pseudo-scientific health organizations and drug companies have reacted to the so-called epidemic is despicable, but

Quote:
The researchers who estimated that obesity is costing us more than $100 billion a year in medical costs came up with this figure by calculating ALL expenses associated with treating type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, hypertension, gallbladder disease, and cancer. They ASSUME that if we get heart disease or breast cancer, it is because we're fat.

There is actually a significant amount of evidence pointing to these being caused by obesity.

Quote:
THE TRUTH ABOUT DIETS: One oft-cited study has found 95% of people who diet to lose weight put it back on within two to three years.

Again, this is the failure of the companies because their diet programs don't work. It is ALSO the failing of the fat person because they need a diet program and cannot simply regulate their own goddamn food intake.

Quote:
Studies have shown that people who are heavy and fit are far healthier than people who are thin and never exercise.

DUH! I could have told you that. But when was the last time you saw a fit fat person? That's right, you don't. They also forget to tell you that someone who is thin and exercises would be far healthier than someone who is fat and exercises.

It is now my personal mission to dissect and debunk this entire article, because apparently fat people can't educate themselves. I'll get back to you on this.

That's just... cruel and unusual...

If you're so into ripping some, at least just provide some audio indication that you are in the process thereof...

The whole hugging him while farting thing, reminds me of Ren & Stimpy.

A woman that is into Ren & Stimpy...

Yes, I would. There are some overweight chicks who are definately do-able! Some chicks may be overweight, but their skin can be nicely toned without any cellulose (cottage cheese ripples).

Therefore, my answer would be...yes :)

I would expect this kind of answer from a person with an avatar such as yours. I'd hit it, too. Hit it then quit it, that is!

Fat is not a failure, it's a natural diversity in the human body. A failure is an inability to accept this very simple fact.

So your personal mission now is to dissect and debunk facts so you can justify your obvious desire to hate fat people? That's really what it comes down to right, you will not be satisfied until you prove yourself as a true sizeist. Guess what, there are thousands out there just like you. Why don't you help instead of hate?

Your concept of fit is flawed, thin does not equal fit. There are unhealthy thin people, who do eat junk food, and are rotting on the inside. They are not harassed for the good of their health, because they LOOK healthy. If you could tell how someone's health was by merely LOOKING at them, why would we need doctors? It has been proven scientifically that a healthy fat person lives longer than a sedentary thin person.

Please, stop this now, there is no need for you to continue your campaign of hatred. I don't want to have to report you to the mods, this isn't a matter of opinon, you are deciding very clearly to hate fat people. Even the way you speak conveys this fact, with your claims that fat people are unable to educate yourself. We have educated ourselves, we've had to in order to survive a society that would rather us not exsist.

Why don't you educate yourself, instead of blindly following whatever the media wants to tell you as far as weight is concerned. It must be false, cause the TV and news media who are funded by diet advertising, tell you differently?

When the hell did obesity become an epidemic anyways? Is it like one day our grandkids are going to be asking us, "Grandpa, how did you make it through the obesity epidemic?"
"Oh it was terrible. There were eclairs, donuts, cakes, chocolates, and candies, everywhere!"

Blatherskite, when people thought "Hey, you know we can make a lot of money convincing people they can change their natural genetically pre-designated body weight, by telling them they can diet. Of course, we know they'll never stay thin, and perhaps diets may do more damage than help in the long run. Who cares though, we'll be swimming in cash!"

Be healthy. Health isn't a waistline, a BMI number, or how far you can run. I know some very rotund, healthy individuals as well as thin and frail ones - this isn't dismissing the fact that there are certain conditions that can be more prone under given factors, but this also varies from person to person to a degree. Am I happier now that I've lost weight? Yes - my knees hurt less, my back hurts less, and I feel better in general. But it happened in large part because I started fighting out of the depression that had taken over, and as a result as I felt happier the unhealthy part of me began to shed as well. And while I'll never model for anything other than a Big & Tall magazine, as I keep improving my outlook and my reactions, I keep making progress on myself as whole.
