Hi folks,

With legislation worded something like the "Protection of Vulnerable..." coming in, it seems quite scary as an Aspie adult.

I hold down a responsible job, with help from NAS Prospects... I'm registered disabled...

But, as an Aspie - will I be legally allowed to consent to sex? If I were to consider getting involved with someone - or would it be the case that I would not be legally allowed to give consent?

I'm 38, by the way.

This seems like the definition used - http://www.torfaen.gov.uk/HealthAndSoci ... ition.aspx

THoughts?
I have never heard of it. Sounds like complete BS to me.

You can consent until you're red in the face; it doesn't mean you'll get any. I think the more important question is can aspies legally get sex?

It's not like they make you apply for a permit before you can get any (though I wouldn't be surprised if some as*hole politician tried to bring in something like that before long), so they wouldn't bother with red tape where AS is concerned.

A lot of people I know don't bother about the whole under-16s law either. Must be nice to have the option.

As long as you're of age, and consenting, I don't see why not.

how would they stop you? government-sanctioned chastity belts? saltpeter mandated medications?
The mind boggles...

I am sure the courts would decide on an individual basis, should charges be brought, if someone was able to consent or not. I have known autistics who would be able to consent during my lifetime and also many who won't. I am doubtful that the courts would accept that a mildly socially inept person would be unable to consent.

Of course we can consent sex. We're not mentally ret*d where we don't understand it.
