WTF makes you think that All, or even most "modern women" are assertive? Some of them are and some definitely ARENT.

And can I offer you a Valium?

I must be missing the part where I said that all women were assertive. I'm not even that assertive, but I wouldn't let a man talk to me like I'm trash. Assertive or not, I'm pretty sure most aren't so submissive as to find the domineering as*hole style (aka stage one) the most appealing.

Maybe women where you come from might, but were I'm from all you'd get is a kick in the groin or a verbal assault at best.

No but you COULD offer me some methylphenidate!

You can be cocky and domineering without being overbearingly aggro. Ive never been to Ireland so honestly I havent a clue as to what Irish women are actually like.

Oh and Tom, and I can't say I agree with your definition of 'alpha male'. Alpha males to me are quietly confident and charming not aggressive or rude. I think a true alpha would establish himself in a much more subtle way rather than behave like a jerk or a brute. Think cool, calm, and suave flattery without looking desperate, not chauvinistic or neanderthal-like! Sure, that might appeal to needy girls with low self-esteem, but I don't think that's the best thing.

Andy, no problem. Thank you for the compliment. The mention of Michel Gondry makes me want to go watch the video for Bjork's Human Behaviour. Which is my Asperger's anthem funny enough. 8)

Totally agree with this. Anything else reads as narcissistic compensation issues, for the most part. Not that women don't seem to find that attractive, because there are many, many out there who do. It's perplexing. I guess it's the difference between alpha by compensation and alpha by wisdom and self knowledge.

Guess which one I'd pick?

Oh my god, I've mentioned Human Behaviour twice already on here; I'm pretty sure Björk has some pretty pronounced AS traits, from everything I've seen, so it's even more fitting.

Drugs are bad, mkay? :P

Women here are probably not the most passive. I remember a friend I had who's cousin was from Seattle - He came over here to visit and was surprised and fairly intimidated at how feisty and in-your-face the girls were.

I've noticed this too. She seems genuinely eccentric without any pretense - too quirky not to set my AS radar off! Her mannerisms even give off the vibe. Not too mention the paparazzi induced meltdowns.

There, Tom, consider that in answer to your video. What do you do when you hit on a woman and she reacts like that?

Björk reminds me way too much of me as a kid. :(

Seems you read the mystery method. Pretty good stuff, but I agree with you the attraction stage is BY FAR the hardest one for aspies to do. And it's explained so bad it's often confusing for aspies. The "cocky" stuff basically means being socially comfortable enough to joke around & bust on people jokingly like you don't have a care in the world. It's what NTs do all the time, but aspies have a hard time understanding it because it's not in thier nature. We just think too much and are too literal.

The attraction stage is about showing that you're someone she'd want to know and not just a random loser not worth her time. Read up on DHVs (demonstrations of higher value). Basically stories about you & your friends, ex-girlfriends, good deeds, accomplishments, humor. Stuff showing that you're social, caring, worldly, funny, & basically all-around worthwhile. That's what attraction is really about. Not this cocky alpha-male malarkey.

Bless her heart, I could listen to her all day.

To take this thread to an entirely new level of off-topic, I shall also say I love her hair.

Katie Jane Garside of Queenadreena and Daisy Chainsaw is also a good candidate for female Aspergerdom.

books that have helped me to understand a woman's mind

Which woman?

Quote:
Use their logical mind

This doesn't work; this is why social situations are so difficult for those with an ASD, because we try to use our logic to understand that which NTs understand intuitively.

Quote:
Put her in her place

What place is this, if I may ask? My place is wherever I say it is, and if anyone decided to try and "put me in my place", they'd end up with a broken nose.

Quote:
I'm doing you a favour

Arrogance is unattractive; get the hell away from me.

Quote:
You never act impressed, you never pay compliments

Because you wouldn't want the girl to think that you actually liked her, or were interested, or anything.

Quote:
You're just... testing her, to see if she's up to your standards

How is insulting someone "testing them"? Can't this be done just by talking to them?

Quote:
Cocky, confident, alpha-male

Jerk who needs to have some bones broken.

Quote:
If you do this stage properly (...), she'll be attracted to you

Neither I nor any of my friends would; and if most women would, they are stupider/more insecure than I thought.

Quote:
I want to know everything about you

You've just met me... (besides, I've broken your nose, remember. Do you enjoy pain or something?)

Quote:
You're such a deep thinker (...) I can tell

This is such an obvious pick-up tactic; if it was obvious to a guy that I was a deep thinker it would be obvious from my words; he wouldn't need some mysterious way of being able to "just tell".

Quote:
They make good friends for women, they're good listeners, very genuinely caring

All good traits.

Quote:
They get too stuck in that stage

That's not the problem; the problem is really sucky social skills that can and do get in the way of showing that someone is a decent person.

Quote:
If a guy comes after you, he'll be using these tricks

Poor guy...

I was going to mention that, thought it might be redundant, so I'm glad you did. Because, absolutely. If I could pull off hair like that, I'd be set for life.

Ive met my fair share of feisty, in-your-face girls right here at home thank you. I personally am a VERY intense, aggressive, and dominant kind of guy and that tends to scare off a lot of women, especially the younger ones. I have to say that I really DO like women who are direct and generally uninhibited; but I strongly dislike women who are power-hungry and are either pushy or manipulative and I Really Hate narcissistic women with big egoes! (What they call the "princess complex"..ugh) If you or someone from your country tried the "assertive modern woman" ploy in a white center bar(white center is neighborhood in my home town of Seattle) with a samoan man he'd bodyslam you onto a bar table.

Tom- I agree that in theory this sounds like it could work, but like you, I would never be able to pull it off in practice. I wouldn’t be able to read their reactions well enough to know whether or not it was working. Practically speaking, being a manipulator goes against everything that I know myself to be. Historically, I have not been the manipulator, but rather I have been the manipulated. I still enjoyed the video though.

Same here.

I always identified with the crazy ways she dressed only to get ridiculed and her odd styles and idiosyncracies that just don't fit in with most famous NT women in the music world.

The advice in the video reminded me of the idea that you can catch a bird by putting salt on it's tail.

If you could make the technique work, you wouldn't need the technique.

Tom, I'm NT and I couldn't tell whether you were joking or not in the Stage 1 "compliments". You said you were, but your face looked so serious. I would have been gobsmacked if I was chatting with you as a complete stranger and you told me something like that. I think I would pretend to go to the loo and sneak out the back door and lick my wounded ego.

You're very cute and charming in that video. Don't pretend to be someone you're not.

You remind me somewhat of my ex. He was very charming. I certainly fell for him, hard and fast. Unfortunately, he was very charming to other girls, too, while we were married. He didn't care if he was married and the girls sure as heck didn't either. :( :?

Be kind before, during and perhaps even after relationships. Kindness goes a longer way than that alpha-male crap.

Good luck.
