I still don't see why you can get married, Ragtime, and I can't.
Neither do I. I admit I take it on faith. (Of course, Biblically, you can get married -- to a guy -- but I know what you mean. Sometimes I like men too, but I'm just as bound by God not to even consider such an option. More of a sacrifice for you, I'll grant you.)

But I am not of your faith. So why should these rules apply to me? I do not wish to live in a Christian theocracy.
That's why you're physically allowed to marry a woman, because God gave us all free will, and also gave us the full freedom to live in/with our choices. You'll probably meet a woman and marry her. Is God going to stop you? No. Are Christians? In the end, no. The correct ones will let you make you choice, in the end -- they are not your judges. God is. They just want you to re-think your decision before you go against God.

A lot of Christians ARE trying to stop me marrying a woman though.
And saying I can marry a man is not the point. I doubt very much I would ever be happy with a man. That's like saying it's OK to ban someone from practising their religion, because they can always convert to another. If one person can marry a woman, simply because he has a penis, then preventing me from marrying a woman, because I don't, is sexist.

Some of them do actually feel threatened in some way. While that's valid, it's a sociological reaction, not truly a doctrinal one, even if they confuse the two. We all get confused at times, especially when we feel passionate or fearful about something. There's a difficult-to-word difference between distinguishing between the sexes and seeking to demote a gender in some way. For instance, the Bible says the man/father/patriarch should lead the home. Does that denegrate women, making them unequal with men? Not at all. Marriage is simply a role-playing exercise, and those are the roles He recommends. He also commands men: "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her" (Eph 5:25). And, "Husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself" (Eph 5:28 ). The sexes are equal in honor, but they have different roles to play in order to be most harmonious. My fiancé believes in this, and likes a lot. Besides, isn't stating that no man could ever make you happy -- simply because he does not have a vagina -- sexist of you?

You just keep quoting the Bible, yep that will convince us all.
Let me tell you that the Bible is SEXIST.

Actually I never said anything about a vagina. In terms of relationships, I was referring to gender, not sex. I could be with a woman who had a penis. And I didn't say no man could EVER make me happy. I said I doubt it, from experience. Sex should have nothing to do with marriage. What sex I am says nothing about me, especially as I am transgendered. It should be nobody's business but mine. And besides, quoting the Bible means nothing to me; like I said before, I do not live in a theocracy.

Yes, that does makes women unequal to men, the Bible was written by MEN, that is why the Bible says that. Women were considered inferiors at that time.

Exactly.
THAT is why Christianity is so homophobic and why it concentrates so much on male homosexuality. Because a man getting f****d up the arse supposedly undermines his masculinity. Marriage itself is inherently sexist.

I guess I will be in your position then, and really experience what you are going throught
Yeah that's what irritates me about homophobic people. They can't see that being gay is actually no different than being straight really. If we reversed the situation, straight people wouldn't be too happy with it.

There is still a lot of ignorance in the world, in the 21 Century
