I miss my fiance. He was killed by a drunk driver on August 28 of this year. He was the first relationship I'd been in where I could be my own weird aspie self because he was an aspie, also. He was an incredible man - IQ of 160, did software development for NASA, weird, funny, and could make anything at all that we did together the most fun thing in the world, including breaking down in the middle of nowhere and occasionally having Twinkie Dogs for dinner.
In the two years we were together, we traveled all over the U.S. (sometimes in a car, sometimes on motorcycles), went camping, did some geocaching, visited many weird roadside attractions, built potato cannons, trebuchets, and other weapons of limited destruction. We read the same books, loved the same movies and TV shows, liked the same foods, thought and said the same things at the same times.
I've been in counseling since his death, which is how I discovered that I am (and he was) an aspie. I am hoping that, someday, when I get beyond this overwhelming grief over his loss, I will be able to find another wonderful aspie with whom to share my life. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying this website. Thanks for being here.
I feel honestly sorry for your lost. You will get better, but it takes time. I am sure you will find another amazing guy to share your life.
