Any ladies interested in anything else about me? p.m. me and we can go from there...
I haven't been on WrongPlanet for quite sometime, so I forgot this was even on here. Since it's too late to edit it, I'm just going to quote and post my update above it.
Update: I met a wonderful (NT) woman through Match.com in April of 2009 (she found me), and we've been in a commited (monogamous) relationship ever since. We're saving money to get married.
If you want to be friends, that's cool. But don't email me looking for anything else.
And guys? Friends are fine. I have some GREAT guy friends. But don't you dare write to me thinking you're so great and cool that you can "convert" me into dating you because you're "sexy". Recently got one of those annoying emails, and it's not funny. It's really annoying and insulting. Homosexuality is not a choice. I don't make "exceptions". I not curious. I'm not a kid/young adult. I'm not trying to be "cool".
My name is Amanda, I'm 29, (openly) lesbian, single for a little over 3 years now. I didn't want to jump from one relationship to the next -- it wouldn't be fair to me or the new person. Now I'm at a point where I'm interested in a relationship again. Long-term relationship. I have short brown hair, green eyes, and glasses. I have regular glasses and Harry Potter glasses -- whichever strike my fancy at the moment. I've also been told I have the most natural Daniel Radcliffe looks some people have seen. I can 'be Harry' better than some of those boy models you see on the 'hire to impersonate at your next party' websites. I used to look a fair bit like Sharleen Spiteri of the UK band Texas, but then I cut my hair and the resemblance seemed to go with it. But I make a darn cute Potter!
I'm 5'6 1/2", slim/slender, which I come by naturally thanks to my Mom. I exercise sometimes... well, pretty inconsistently. Depends on the activity, I can do some better than others. I'd like to get out to walk, maybe job, more, but our neighbourhood isn't safe thanks to a someone owning a big dog that attacks and is not chained up -- on the ONE street that's flat!
I do not drink.
I do not smoke.
I do not have and do not want children.
Not negotiable.
Alcohol makes me sick (unless it's in a dish and cooked and in minor amounts) and smoking bothers my otherwise pretty unbotherable asthma. Plus I just can't stand the smell of it. If you drink now and then, that is okay with me. None of this weekend warrior stuff. I've been through that with my ex and cannot go through it again. For the kids thing -- I have great empathy with animals and love them, but I just can't do kids. I've known all my life that I wouldn't want to have children.
Hmm... I consider myself Wiccan (mostly non practising) and also have a bit of interest in Catholicism because of my maternal Grandmother and in Eastern Orthodoxy because I learned about it for one of my undergrad minors and it was quite fascinating. I don't believe there is any one right religion and I won't push my beliefs and expect the same respect in return.
Speaking of undergrad.... I earned my BA in Journalism, History, and Russian. I am currently pursuing my MBA in Economic Crime & Fraud Management, although my ultimate goal is to get a book (or several) published.
I currently live in SW Virginia but hope to relocate to upstate or western NY sooner than later. My Mom's family is all from WNY and that's where I feel at home. (Both my parents are 'Yankees' and honestly I just don't 'get' the south.)
I am a licensed health insurance agent who was working for the leading company in the Medicare Part D plans .... but it got too stressful, especially with grad school, so I quit. I plan to do temp work until I graduate since that will be more flexible with school. I'm attending classes on-line, but have a residency to go to in January, and some weeks it would just be better to only have to concentrate on school.
The Good Stuff: My friends say I am creative, generous, intelligent, witty, kind, and passionate. I've seen many surveys/sites that ask, "other than appearance, what do people first notice about you?" One of my closest friends says, "Your sparkling personality and smile, I think, and your snarkiness (in a good way) . . . I love your snarkiness! And don't forget, brilliantly sexy!"
I LOVE to read, write, draw, learn new things, sing (I adore internet karaoke!), watching curling (want to learn to play), riding (horses, bicycle), travelling, and I love my computers. I like interesting and intelligent discussions as long as they don’t dissolve into “I’m right and you’re wrong.”
....Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens…
I love taking photos of nature – and then editing them in Paintshop Pro with my multitude of plug-ins. Lately I’m into B&W with hints of colour. And I do love my cat, Marble. I got her when she was 2 from the feral cat rescue society. She’s one of the most affectionate animals I’ve ever seen.
...These are a few of my favourite things…
Favourite travel spots? I love the UK & Western Europe. I’ve been to Scotland, Germany France, Austria, and Switzerland once, and England twice. This summer I spent 9 days in Toronto, ON, followed by time in both upstate and western NY. I would love to visit Ireland some day. I prefer quieter spots to noisy bars and clubs. Karaoke is an exception to the rule, but since Virginia isn’t big on “smoke free,” I do my karaoke on a free internet karaoke site! If you want to hear me sing, just let me know!
I love rich/royal colours, I like to shop on-line to avoid the crowds; I do enjoy long hours in a bookstore, though. I don’t watch much current TV (except for ‘American Idol’), but I have several series on DVD I love, such as: Buffy, Angel, Xena, Dallas, Thunderbirds, Dresden Files, Bewitched, Mork & Mindy, et cetera.
One of my favourite books is ‘Pillars of the Earth’ (historical fiction). I am currently reading “Fool Moon” by Jim Butcher, “Peter & the Shadow Thieves” by Ridley Pearson & Dave Barry, and I just finished "Thinking in Pictures: My Life With Autism" by Temple Grandin.
Favourite artists include Texas, Billy Idol, BBMak, Enya, Barbra Streisand, Paula Abdul, Regina Spektor, Cher, Faith Hill, Melissa Etheridge…
****Not interested in: Smokers. Wild/heavy drinkers. Liars, Cheaters, People who cannot control their temper, People with kids, People who are not D/D free.
Any questions? Please ask.
*Edit: I tend to be attracted to people older than I am, but I won't turn my nose up at a younger person if we seem to click.
I'm 21, and I currently live in Oklahoma. I'm hoping to move to another state once it's an option, but I'm not in a hurry. I just want to live somewhere more accepting of math and science geeks. Oklahoma isn't exactly well known for being an academic state. (In fact, it's one of the worst.)
I'm looking for a long-term relationship, and initial distance isn't that much of an issue for me. I'm not very picky about looks, but taking care of your physical health is really important for me. As long as you're following medical guidelines in that area, I don't think it'll be an issue.
I'm just hoping that someone else out there is an affectionate math and science geek, and that they'll find me here. I'd love to have that one person I can cuddle with every night, and fall asleep talking about something completely geeky.
I have a dating profile here, which will have some more pictures and information, if you're interested.

Height: 5'7
Hair: Medium brown
Eyes: Greyish green
Weight: 57kg
Background: English/irish/german

Personality: Quiet, introverted
Pastimes/Hobbies: Wrong Planet, Second Life, listening to music (mostly metal and hard rock), lawn bowls and linedancing (by force of parents).
Dress Style: Usually skinny jeans and band shirts, emo young fashion when it's not too lairy, will dress up feminine when I feel like it.
Religion: Baptised Anglican turned Agnostic.
Diagnosis: Not officially on the spectrum but I have a few traits. My psych doesn't think I have it.
Stuff: Before I should say anything more I should write this big bold disclaimer: ******I HAD A ONE NIGHT STAND ONCE******. If you have any moral issues with sex outside of a relationship, even a teensy bit of bother, please stop reading . Not too long distance is fine by me. I have a car and know how to drive it, but I prefer it you live no further south than Sydney and no further north than South QLD (I have family in Brisbane and Bundaberg so it's all cool). Looks aren't all that important to me. Rather it's how you feel about yourself that is more important to me. I like people who are confident with their looks no matter how average they are. Just saying, I have a tough time when it's left up to me alone to make the other person feel good about themselves. I have trouble paying compliments and stuff. If you play Second Life too that'd be cool, we could maybe partner up inworld and hangout. I have a dog and a cat. I still live at home with my mother but I'm hoping to get my own place someday soon. I have two older brothers.
EDIT: Please don't take the "Don't ever love me" avatar to heart. It's more known for it's reverse psychology effect.

Do guys really give you flack about a one night stand?
I wouldn't imagine most would care, but maybe it's different in Aussieland.

I'm a high functioning asbergian looking for love. Interests include music, film and gaming, but I'm open to pretty much anything.
Cheery Disposition and a lot of superficial confidence. Never really had a lot of luck with the opposite sex, but I'm nothing if not a trier (or should that be trying?)
