I believe you are taking his words out of context and that´s something a few religious posters have complained about.

I dont see where he says he wants to disprove the bible. He says that religious differences have been the cause of most wars for thousands of years but he never said he wanted to disprove the bible.

In fact at the end of his post he says that if there wasnt any religious dfifferences people would be fighting about other things so I dont think he wants to disprove religion.

I am probably a direct descendant of the coasstal Canaanitess so-called Pheoniciansss by the Greeksss , the bible describes my ancestorssss as violent and immoral people (even though historians and ancient non-biblical scriptures always described the Phoenician kingdoms as peaceful non-warrior merchant communities). According to the bible, I have sssome sssseed of sssserpent in my bloodssss , so I am ssssorta of a venemousss sssnake-man, cool .... , beware my bitessss ...tssssss!

I wonder how Lebanese Christians can believe in a book that it insults the very 'blood' that they're so proud of.

Well, the Bible insults all nations (including the Jews). Lebanese aren't special in this regard. So you might as well wonder why any human being can believe in such a book.

Answer: Rational desire for irrationality.

I am. :D Perhaps I should join the Westboro Baptist Church.

My only advice is don't try to date a Muslim girl or her family might kill you and her too.
(Yes it really happens)

I agree with wombat. It is very difficult to get a Muslim girl if you are not a Muslim yourself while the converse is sadly not true.

I guess there are quite a bit of Aspies on this thread who are against religion. Religion is very personal. It can't be judged based on what is in books or the wars it creates. I think it should be judged on what it does to the person. My Catholic faith has enriched my life and makes me a good person, because that's how it affects my life. It has been very positive in my life and made a very positive difference in my life. You can't judge my religion based on stereotypes, or things that happened with other people.

If you are an athiest, or Islam, or Jewish, or Christian, or whatever you believe in or don't believe in, if it makes a positive influence on your life and makes you a better person, then it works for you. What works for you might not work for me. We are all different, we all believe in different things and have our own opinions. If you are shallow enough to put others down for not thinking what you want them to think, then you are no better than the people who scoff at you for liking your special interests.

Atheism does not have any positive influence on my life. If any, it makes finding a partner harder. I don't choose atheism, just like I don't choose to believe no fairy is going to give me $1000000 tomorrow.

I don't believe that either. I believe in living my life according to the teaching and example of one very humble man. I very strongly believe in being a good person, and making a positive influence on the lives of other people. But as I said, this works for me.

Dammit! They're just about the only girls left who don't flash their sexy bits off in public......that would be perfect for me  , but I don't wanna get shot. Curse my male insecurities. :(

Can't I be an associate member of Islam or something? Or put all the girls into a melting pot and stir, until the extremes of Islam and Western decadence are neutralised?

If you're cute/handsome, a lot of Muslim girls who like to wear the hijab in public would be willing to do you ... so long as they know that their families and relatives never find out.

But always be sure you have an Osama Bin Laden beard on.

The risk is very big in that and very few Muslim women who are liberal in the first place will take that risk.

Yup....the whole plan's falling apart already. For one thing, it doesn't annoy me in the least if my partner wants to show her hair off in public, so that part would be wasted on me. Also in my locale I'm noticing more and more girls with hijab-and-leggings......I get the feeling I'm not quite on the same page somehow, I mean leggings don't leave much to the imagination do they?

I hate being with a person who is orthodox when it comes to religion. Especially when it is 'proper' to avoid music. :/

Its a big failing down-spiral from there.

It's nothing to do with "putting others down"-
I could no more date someone who believed a man in the sky was talking to them, and in Jewish zombies and virgin births and alchemy than I could date your run of the mill psych ward patient who believes an alien race called Ciggles are sending him transmissions.

There's the added issue of how to raise children.

Theism is quite clearly not needed for morality.

Then maybe It's time to get rid of my shaving tools.

I'd prefer it if men didn't shave, for one. :)
